We couldn’t be happier to welcome you to the Buffalo Niagara region for the 2016 NHL Draft. The Buffalo Sabres, Pegula Sports & Entertainment, First Niagara Center, HARBORCENTER, Niagara Frontier Transit Authority, Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission and Visit Buffalo Niagara have been working in partnership to ensure your stay in Buffalo is safe, exciting and hassle free. Our destination has been completely transformed in recent years, sporting a revitalized waterfront, restored neighborhoods and influx of new attractions, hotels and restaurants. A critical piece of that revitalization is the very spot adjacent to where the NHL Draft is taking place, HARBORCENTER — a $200 million amateur hockey complex with a two-story sports bar, retail shops and a 200-room Marriott Hotel designed to welcome visitors just like you. HARBORCENTER and a series of other new developments have all come online in the last few years, creating a palpable sense of enthusiasm and energy here. I encourage you to get out and explore all we have to offer, from a kayak tour along Canalside and Silo City to our magnificent art museums, enjoying a craft beer at one of our many local breweries, visiting restored architectural gems and relishing over signature chicken wings or a new restaurant.

  • Cozy Winter Issue
Like many other American cities, Buffalo, New York, is undergoing a development boom in the downtown core as people are migrating back not only for an emerging arts and culture scene, but to call it home again as well. Art galleries, theatres, live music venues, restaurants, and other independent retailers have sprung up throughout. While some might not have even considered visiting Buffalo based on their own preconceived notions from the past, it’s now time to take note of some of the grand changes taking place in this city a mere two hours from Toronto. 28 winterplay! 2013 cozy winter is s ue cozy winter is s ue Pearl Street Speakeasy patio in the city, and a selection of microbrews distilled right on the premises. Established in 1996, the wraparound outdoor balcony is somewhat reminiscent of those in New Orleans, and helps to connect the multiple service bars on the premises. The historic building was constructed during the late 1800s in what was then known as the Canal District, often referred to as “the most evil square mile in America” at the time. The Flying Bison Brewery opened on Ontario Street in 2000, but plans are to relocate to 840 Seneca Street in the downtown Larkin District in the coming year. As well, Big Ditch Brewing Co. has selected a downtown Buffalo building to be its headquarters and production facility. It’s ideally situated on Ellicott Street across from the recently opened Italian eatery Tappo, operated by local celebrity restaurateur Michael Andrzejewski. Other breweries worthy of note are Southern Tier Brewing Company, Community Beer Works, and Cosmic Frog Handcrafted Ales.
