We couldn’t be happier to welcome you to the Buffalo Niagara region for the 2016 NHL Draft. The Buffalo Sabres, Pegula Sports & Entertainment, First Niagara Center, HARBORCENTER, Niagara Frontier Transit Authority, Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission and Visit Buffalo Niagara have been working in partnership to ensure your stay in Buffalo is safe, exciting and hassle free. Our destination has been completely transformed in recent years, sporting a revitalized waterfront, restored neighborhoods and influx of new attractions, hotels and restaurants. A critical piece of that revitalization is the very spot adjacent to where the NHL Draft is taking place, HARBORCENTER — a $200 million amateur hockey complex with a two-story sports bar, retail shops and a 200-room Marriott Hotel designed to welcome visitors just like you. HARBORCENTER and a series of other new developments have all come online in the last few years, creating a palpable sense of enthusiasm and energy here. I encourage you to get out and explore all we have to offer, from a kayak tour along Canalside and Silo City to our magnificent art museums, enjoying a craft beer at one of our many local breweries, visiting restored architectural gems and relishing over signature chicken wings or a new restaurant. Not to mention a natural wonder of the world, Niagara Falls, is in our backyard. Please visit our website, visitbuffaloniagara.com, or follow us on Twitter @BuffaloNiagara and @SportsBUF for more ideas on all there is to see and do here. I wish you an enjoyable time in the Buffalo Niagara region and we hope you return soon. Truly Yours, Patrick Kaler Join the conversation on Twitter at #nhldraft. Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips January 4, 2014 Devils-Sabres Preview By Nicolino DiBenedetto Associated Press January 4, 2014 The Buffalo Sabres may own the fewest points in the NHL, but they've hardly resembled the league's worst team lately at home. Ryan Miller has had a hand in that success. Miller will likely be in net looking to win a sixth straight home game, as the Sabres face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. Buffalo (11-26-4) not only has the worst record in the league, its average of 1.63 goals ranks last - 0.60 behind Minnesota for 29th. The Sabres fell 4-1 at Minnesota on Thursday, losing their 11th straight on the road. "It's just one of those things where when we're bad, we're bad," interim coach Ted Nolan said. They've been very good at home, however, going 5-0-1 in their last six home games. They're averaging 2.75 goals to win four straight there for the first time since a five-game streak from Feb. 19-March 12, 2012. Miller has been superb at home, compiling a 1.34 goals-against average and .962 save percentage while winning his last five games in Buffalo. He last won six straight there from Nov. 13-Dec. 9, 2010. Miller, named to the U.S. Olympic team earlier this week, may have a chance to equal that run since he's 4-1-1 with a 1.60 GAA and a shutout over his last six home meetings with the Devils (17-17-8).

PLEASE NOTE: Talk availability is subject to the availability of our volunteer docents. We will do our best to accommodate your preferences. Talk Topics Abraham Lincoln in Buffalo & Western New York Buffalo’s presidential history is arguably the country’s most significant, with exception of Washington D.C. We are well aware that Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland were residents and political stalwarts of Buffalo when elected, and that William McKinley was assassinated and Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated here in September 1901. But what about Abraham Lincoln? Is there a chapter in Western New York’s presidential book regarding his presence and legacy? This talk will reveal the answers to these questions as it describes Lincoln’s four visits to Buffalo and Western New York. Art’s Up: The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy (BFAA) and its Impact Near and Far The parent organization of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is the BFAA which was established in 1862 and for over 150 years has been an ambassador for Buffalo — locally, nationally, and globally. In this talk, we will briefly review BFAA’s history, including key events and “firsts” such as being the first major art museum to have a woman director. We’ll focus on a selection of people throughout the years who’ve had significant influence, such as our own “Monuments Men” who helped recover Nazi-looted art during World War II.
