Based on the evaluation and recommendations of a committee, the University Grants Commission declared the University of Hyderabad a ‘University with Potential for Excellence’. The University was sanctioned a grant of Rs.30 crore under UPE Phase – 1 under this scheme for Interfacial Studies & Research and Holistic Development for a period of 5 years (2002-2007) and Rs.50 crore under the Phase - 2 (2012-2016). The Advanced Centre for Research in High Energy Materials (ACRHEM) on the University campus has been supported by DRDO for Research on High Energy Materials to the tune of Rs.113 Crores in the third phase. Top Grades by various ranking agencies The University opted for a rigorous evaluation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission. The University has gone through the reaccreditation process of the NAAC and the NAAC had awarded a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.72 on 4.0 scale at ‘A’ grade for a period of 7 years up to 2021 in the third cycle. The University has been ranked 5th among Universities and overall 11th by National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the year 2018. The University is placed in top 100 in the world, with its achievements, in the first 50 years by QS world rankings, ranked 591-600 in the World, 106 in Asia, 36 among BRICS Nations and among top 100 under the age of 50. Also ranked 7 overall and First among Multi-disciplinary Universities in India. The University has also been rated by the NISSAT (National Information System for Science and Technology) of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, as the only University under the ‘High Output High Impact’ category among the top 50 institutions in India with publications in citation index journals. DST support for augmenting research facilities The Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India sanctioned over Rs. 11.96 crore under the FIST (Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology) to four Science Schools of the University to augment research facilities. In addition to this, the DST has established High Performance Computing Facility, Centre for Nanotechnology, Centre for Modeling, Simulation and Design at University of Hyderabad under the FIST Programme with a total financial support of Rs.24 crore. University doesn’t have any Study Centres or branches or Campuses or Affiliated Colleges elsewhere. The “objects of the University” as envisaged in the Act are: “to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit and by the example of its corporate life, and, in particular, to make special provisions for integrated courses in humanities and science in the educational programmes of the University and to take appropriate measures for promoting inter- disciplinary studies and research in the University.” The University’s scenic and serene campus is spread over a vast stretch of land measuring about 2,000 acres, on the old Hyderabad - Bombay road. Amidst the picturesque environment of the campus, several buildings catering to the academic needs, support facilities and residential requirements of the campus community have been constructed over the years. The University also has a city campus ‘The Golden Threshold’ the residence of the late Sarojini Naidu which was bequeathed to the University by her daughter, the late Padmaja Naidu. Skill India gets its first Batch of IES officers to the ISDS cadre: The fresh batch of the newest central government services, the Indian Skill Development Services (ISDS) commenced their training program at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru, Karnataka. These are the first batch which is joining the ISDS cadre from the Indian Engineering Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The aim for this is to attract young and talented administrators towards institutionalizing the Skill Development environment in the country. The induction of young talent as ISDS officers is one of the special initiatives taken by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the government as a whole, to significantly strengthen the skill development eco-system in the country. An insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh would be provided under the Mukhyamantri Vyapari Samuhik Niji Durghatna Beema Yojana. An insurance cover ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh would be provided under the Mukhyamantri Vyapari Kshatipurti Beema Yojana. Traders registered under the Haryana Goods and Service Tax (HGST) Act, 2017 would be covered under these schemes.

Auditor’s Report 97 3 2017 2018 2017 2018 01 About CSD For over five decades the Council for Social Development (CSD) has functioned as a non-profit, non-partisan, vibrant, research and advocacy institution on social development with a special focus on the welfare of the marginalised. CSD began its journey in 1962 as an informal study group comprising prominent social workers and social scientists under the leadership of the legendary freedom fighter, social worker and indefatigable institution- builder, Dr Durgabai Deshmukh. Two years later, the Council acquired a formal status as an affiliate of the India International Centre. In August 1970, it was registered as a Society with Dr C.D. Deshmukh as President and Dr Durgabai Deshmukh as Executive Chairperson and Honorary Director. At present, distinguished diplomat and educationist, Professor Muchkund Dubey, is the President of the Council, with Professor Manoranjan Mohanty as the Vice President. Through its programmes relating to research, seminars, lectures, capacity-building and publications, CSD actively participates in policy discourses in social development.
