Kits-Fm (Live105) Brings the Bay Area KITS-FM (LIVE105) BRINGS THE BAY AREA "BFD" ON JUNE 4 WITH THE OFFSPRING, FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS, SILVER SUNPICKUPS, THE NAKED AND FAMOUS AND MORE San Francisco, CA (March 7th, 2016) – KITS-FM,LIVE105 (www.live105.com), the BAY AREA’S ALTERNATIVE is proud to present LIVE 105’s BFD 2016, at the Shoreline Amphitheater on Saturday, June 4th. Once again, LIVE105 has assembled a huge line-up of the most acclaimed artists in Alternative as well as new up-and-coming bands. LIVE 105’s BFD has become widely known to be the Bay Area’s summer kick off music festival. LIVE 105’s BFD 2016 features 40 bands on four separate stages. The main stage will be lead by full sets from punk rock legends The Offspring, indie-pop super stars Fitz and the Tantrums, and alt rock heavy weights Silversun Pickups. The main stage will also feature the indie electronic band from New Zealand, The Naked and Famous, and indie rock from the up and coming BØRNS. As always the Festival Stage will be feature the current roster of alternative acts with non-stop music from Bad Relgion, Wolfmother, The Wombats, Jake Bugg, Broods, The Story So Far, Lucius, Finish Ticket, Never Shout Never, The Strumbellas, Reuben and the Dark and JR JR. The Subsonic Tent is always place to check out some of the best names in electronic and EDM music. Featured in the tent will be Claude VonStroke, and Blaqk Audio along with performances by NGHTMRE, K Theory, TOKiMONSTA, Joywave (live), Night Riots (live), and Bisop The tent will also play host to local DJs, Aaron Axelsen, Saint John, John Beaver, and Non Sequitur, LIVE105’s BFD 2016 will also feature nine of the hottest bands from all over the Bay Area with SWMRS, Scene of Action, Rin Tin Tiger, Meet Me In Orbit and many more. Tickets go on-sale to the general public on Saturday, March 12th at 10am at livenation.com. Listeners that are part of #TeamLIVE105 can purchase LIVE 105’s BFD tickets early. LIVE 105 will have an exclusive online pre-sale from Thursday, March 10 at 10am until Friday, March 11 at 11:59pm on live105.com. Ticket prices are $37.50 for lawn seating as well as $99.50/$69.50 and $49.50 for reserved seating. A “4 pack lawn” package is also available for $105 for a limited time. This, however, is insufficient at explaining how and why the genre has adapted to (as well as helped shape) geographically and culturally disparate communities across the globe over the last half- century. Moreover, most academic treatment of punk rock comes from a cultural and sociological perspective, lacking a theoretical and analytical discussion of the music itself. This document will synthesize the evolving genre’s musical and cultural entanglements with politics. To this end, the document will focus on landmark bands, albums, and locations around the world in a mostly chronological order with occasional overlap, documenting cultural development of the genre with supplemental musical analysis. With rigorous primary-source analysis of punk rock zines, this document will also recognize punk rock communities and transmission of ideas outside of the bands themselves. The elusive intertwining and occasionally paradoxical stances of the punk subculture are precisely why creating a single definition of punk rock is a difficult endeavor.

  • The Members of Los Angeles Alternative Rock Band the Wrec
    No money to their names (minus what they earned from medical studies), the members of Los Angeles alternative rock band The Wrecks—Nick Anderson [vocals, guitar], Aaron Kelley [bass], Nick Schmidt [guitar, vocals], Westen Weiss [guitar, keys], and Billy Nally [drums]—received the invitation of a lifetime. As the story goes, Anderson’s friend was house-sitting for a professional music producer (who will remain unnamed to protect the not-so innocent). So, the boys had a three-day window to record in this space for free. Inspired by everything from The Pixies and The Strokes to Weezer and Vampire Weekend, they snuck in and out, cut a handful of tracks steeped in stories of wild nights and too much partying, put everything back as if nothing happened, and cleaned up all of the Dominos boxes, minus a crumb or two. On the last day, they narrowly missed the homeowner’s ex-wife (but still needed to send engineer Andrew D’Angelo back on a midnight “Black Op” to transfer the files). The recovered evidence err…contents….including the 2016 breakout single “Favorite Liar.” Not only did the track score over 14.7 million Spotify streams, but it also landed on coveted playlists such as It’s Alt Good, Digging Now, Feelgood Indie, Indie Radar, Punk Unleashed, and more as the group averaged 235K monthly listeners. Additionally, the music video cracked 1.5 million cumulative views, while “Favorite Liar” soared to #5 on Sirius/XM Alt Nation (not bad for a free recording!). Along the way, they made the jump from playing wild house parties that often ended with running from the cops to grimy clubs and finally headlining theaters between tours with the likes of Nothing But Thieves, The Hunna, Night Riots, and SWMRS.
