Ryan Seacrest Dances with Julianne Hough at ‘
Ryan Seacrest Dances with Julianne Hough at ‘Footloose’ Party The Footloose premiere after-party was all about cutting loose for Julianne Hough and boyfriend Ryan Seacrest, according to UsMagazine.com. Although Seacrest is usually not one to dance, he made an exception for Dancing With the Stars alum Hough to show his support for her accomplishments. “Julianne was so happy because apparently Ryan never dances and this was the exception he made for her, because he was so happy for her,” said a party guest. The Footloose star admits that she didn’t expect her beau to hit the dance floor. “It’s like really awkward, but really cute,” she said of Seacrest’s skills. “My brother Derek does a better impression.” How do you know when your partner really cares about you? Cupid’s Advice: It can be difficult to read the signs when it comes to deciphering whether your partner truly cares about you. Here are some ways to tell: 1. Outside of comfort zone: If your significant other steps outside their comfort zone and does something for you that he or she would not normally do, it’s a safe bet that they care about you. Ryan Seacrest did just that by dancing with girlfriend Julianne Hough. 2. It’s the little things: When your partner buys you flowers “just because” and picks up small things here and there that remind them of you, that’s a great sign. It means you’re constantly playing a part in his or her life. 3. Show off: When your mate shows you off to his or her friends, it means they’re not ashamed of you and, in fact, are proud to be with you. -

The author explores the topic not only from the academic perspective but also from the performing angle, as Sonevytsky is a practicing multidisciplinary professional with extensive professional training and significant performing experience. Sonevytsky’s unique capacity to see connections between music and Ukrainian politics in the context of history already found its reflection in her earlier projects. “The Chornobyl Songs Project: Living Culture from a Lost World” was released in 2015 by Smithsonian Folkways and elaborated on the effects of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster and the revival of rural musical repertoires. Focusing on such key terms as “sovereignty” and “Wildness,” Sonevytsky creates a unique blend of fields combining ethnomusicology, politics, feminist studies, and history. In the preface, Sonevytsky mentions that the key term “sovereignty” emerged from the acuteness of the political instability in Ukraine in the years when she was conducting her research. The second key- term “Wildness” was in her original focus when she studied the reflections of civilization and barbarism expressed in the sonic products of Crimean Tatars and Hutsuls. -

Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Introduction
Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Introduction Catherine Baker Lecturer, University of Hull [email protected] http://www.suedosteuropa.uni-graz.at/cse/en/baker Contemporary Southeastern Europe, 2015, 2(1), 74-93 Contemporary Southeastern Europe is an online, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes original, scholarly, and policy-oriented research on issues relevant to societies in Southeastern Europe. For more information, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.contemporarysee.org Introduction: Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Catherine Baker* Introduction From the vantage point of the early 1990s, when the end of the Cold War not only inspired the discourses of many Eurovision performances but created opportunities for the map of Eurovision participation itself to significantly expand in a short space of time, neither the scale of the contemporary Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) nor the extent to which a field of “Eurovision research” has developed in cultural studies and its related disciplines would have been recognisable. In 1993, when former Warsaw Pact states began to participate in Eurovision for the first time and Yugoslav successor states started to compete in their own right, the contest remained a one-night-per- year theatrical presentation staged in venues that accommodated, at most, a couple of thousand spectators and with points awarded by expert juries from each participating country. Between 1998 and 2004, Eurovision’s organisers, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and the national broadcasters responsible for hosting each edition of the contest expanded it into an ever grander spectacle: hosted in arenas before live audiences of 10,000 or more, with (from 2004) a semi-final system enabling every eligible country and broadcaster to participate each year, and with (between 1998 and 2008) points awarded almost entirely on the basis of telephone voting by audiences in each participating state. -

Evidence from multiple sources reveals a surprising link between 25 imitation and dance. As in the classical correspondence problem central to 26 imitation research, dance requires mapping across sensory modalities, and the 27 integration of visual and auditory inputs with motor outputs. Recent research in 28 comparative psychology supports this association, in that entrainment to a 29 musical beat is only observed in animals capable of vocal and motor imitation. 30 Dance possesses representational properties reliant on the dancers' ability to 31 imitate particular people, animals or events, as well as the audience's ability to 32 recognize these correspondences. Imitation also plays a central role in learning 33 to dance, and the acquisition of the long sequences of choreographed movements 34 are dependent on social learning. These, and other, lines of evidence suggest that 35 dancing may only be possible for humans because its performance exploits 36 existing neural circuitry employed in imitation. 37 38 39 2 40 Dance is observed in all human societies. People readily move their bodies to 41 rhythm or music, frequently coordinating their motion with others. -

ROBERT HERJAVEC 2015 Fall Press Report OUTLET: THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER ISSUE: DECEMBER 4, 2015 CIRCULATION: 73,875 IMPRESSIONS: 221,625 OUTLET: RUNNERS WORLD ISSUE: NOVEMBER 6, 2015 IMPRESSIONS: 2,625,589 I got fired when I was younger, started an internet security business, and that was that. Some people have a vision to start a business. Others adapt because they’re forced to. I was the latter. I was a casual runner my whole life, but I got serious eight years ago when my mom became ill with cancer. My company was growing, my kids were littler, the days felt overwhelming. The only thing that made me forget about everything was running, so I started doing it every day. Most people think business is the fun, sexy stuff we see on TV, but success comes from the 22 things you have to do every day that nobody notices. That’s just like running. There are a lot of fans at the finish line of a marathon, but not as many between miles three and 26. My proudest running moment was my first marathon in Miami in 2009. I trained only for a few months, but I was really proud that I even finished (in 4:40). I run five miles daily, plus a long run of eight to 10 miles on Sunday. It’s hard to find the time but if I don’t, I’m more tired, I need to eat more – it affects me physically and mentally. I appeared on Dancing With the Stars this year and made it to week eight of 10 with no dance experience. -
