Members of the body, you might recall that LB247 was a group of bills that were clustered. Now, with that having been the case, the good news this morning is that the grand sum total fiscal note is $6,000 for LB247. And this all is because of one bill that was included, and that was Senator Nantkes' bill to require children enrolled in day cares to be vaccinated with for pneumococcal disease. This is the Medicaid matching funds to anticipate the cost for these vaccinations. So that's the sum total of the fiscal note for LB247A. With that I would ask that it be advanced. Thank you. The fiscal note, or the A bill that goes with that, calls for an expenditure of $70,000 in the first year of the upcoming biennium, and $170,000 in the second year. These amounts reflect the cost of obtaining individualized student test results from the norm-referenced national test that would be then put into the student information database. Ortiz, Advisor This thesis examines the role of a single state, Nebraska, in the lengthy and complex history of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment—specifically its impact during 1972 and 1973, the two crucial years when the amendment was passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate and then went to the individual states for ratification. The core of this project centers on these fundamental issues: Nebraska’s unique single-house legislature and the rising New Right’s ability to take advantage of liberals’ disorganization in order to strengthen their own forces. Nebraska’s unicameral legislature, lacking the built-in checks-and-balances system inherent in bicameral legislatures, permitted propositions to be passed more quickly and reduced opportunities for in-depth debate. In 1972, Nebraska became the second state in the union to pass the ERA. In 1973, Nebraska rescinded its ERA vote just as quickly. This move would have significant impact on the actions of other states, and Nebraska would become a battleground in the struggle for power between liberal and conservative groups. Data collected and analyzed for this project came from a variety of sources, including books, articles, author interviews, newspapers, published reports, and archives.

    This document is from the collections at the Dole Archives, University of Kansas http://dolearchives.ku.edu NEBRASKA STOPS Grand Island Grand Island is located on the Eastern end of Nebraska 3, represented by retiring Congresswoman Virginia Smith. The Third District covers three-quarters of the State, and runs from the corn belt in the East to the wheat and ranching highlands in the West. There are sixty-two counties and alot of pasture. The most Republican district in Nebraska, the Third gave more than 70% of its vote to Ronald Reagan in 1980, and 67% to Bush in 1988. Exon carried only 25 of the district's counties in 1984. Grand Island is the only city in the Third District with more than 30,000 people. Grand Island's major industries include farm implements and meatpacking. A small group of Southeast Asians in the city work at the Montfort meatpacking facility. The Oregon and Mormon trails run through Scottsvluff, which has the only sizable Hispanic population in western Nebraska, a legacy of the migrant labor used to harvest sugar beets over a period of several decades. There are three heavily Democrat counties north of Grand Island: Sherman, Greeley and Howard. Lincoln The State Capital, Lincoln gives the First District an urban flavor, but does not dominate the District as Omaha does in the Nebraska 2. Lancaster County and its suburbs casts just under 40% of the vote. A white-collar town, Lincoln is dominated by state government and the University of Nebraska with its 23,000 students. There's virtually an even number of Democrats to Republicans and Bush won Lancaster County over Dukakis by only 345 votes.

    Is the Franklin Cover-up Scandal of Child Sex-Trafficking in Boys Town, Nebraska Still Happening Today? September 9, 2019, by Health Impact News Staff In 1988, the raid and closure of the Franklin Federal Credit Union in Omaha, Nebraska revealed a child sex trafficking ring, mainly boys and, later, girls from Boys Town, Nebraska, that included prominent members of society and government officials as the perpetrators. [1] The investigation into the credit union and its General Manager, Larry King, ended with the arrest and conviction of Larry King for a forty million dollar fraud. [1] Despite multiple investigations into the credit union, Larry King and Boys Town, one of the greatest cover-ups was not only successful, but resulted in the accusations made and corroborated by several witnesses as nothing more than a “hoax,” leading to multiple conspiracy theories. A documentary created in 1993 by a film crew from Yorkshire Television in the UK, went to Omaha, Nebraska to make a documentary about the alleged pedophile ring. [2] Funding for the film was made by the Discovery Channel in the U.S.A. The documentary was set to air in Ireland and the UK as part of Yorkshire Television broadcast, “First Tuesday.” A US broadcast would follow. [2] The documentary crew claims to have found a vast operation throughout the country, providing children to the wealthy and political establishment for molestation, drug trafficking and blackmail.
