Mission As the marketing arm for the City of Corpus Christi, the primary mission of the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau is to drive overnight visitors to the Corpus Christi area.

The Corpus CVB is a full-service travel information center; as such, we offer Corpus Christi maps and Visitors Guides online and in print to anyone interested. In addition, the CCCVB provides the community with marketing support for the tourism, sports, and convention industries. These industries support the Corpus Christi area with a positive economic impact second only to the area's oil/gas/chemicals industry. The American Bank Center is Corpus Christi's premier venue for conventions, sports, concerts and the performing arts. Located within the 500,000 square-foot American Bank Center complex are a state-of- the-art convention center, the 10,500-seat American Bank Center Arena and the 2,526-seat American Bank Center Selena Auditorium.

Renovated in November 2004, the American Bank Center Convention Center features 76,500 square feet. of easily accessible exhibit space in its main exhibit hall. Twenty-two (22) separate breakout rooms, a 25,000 square foot banquet hall and 20,000 square foot Bayview Ballroom are all conveniently contained within the convention center complex. All rooms are phone/internet-ready with either hardwire CAT- 6 connections and/or wireless internet.

POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION TITLE: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER REPORTS TO: BOARD OF DIRECTORS

PURPOSE Posi�on is accountable for direc�ng and managing the staff and opera�ons of the associa�on to ensure successful accomplishment of strategic goals, on behalf of the Board of Directors and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Develops long-term strategic plan and budget for the associa�on, working with the Board of Directors and staff, consistent with the vision and mission of the associa�on. Directs the staff in the development of programs to implement and accomplish strategic plan objec�ves. 2. Serves as spokesperson for the associa�on and its stakeholders. Meets with City Council and the Corpus Chris� community to provide informa�on regarding business concerns, issues that impact tourism and associa�on programs and services. Makes presenta�ons at business events and other mee�ngs and ar�culates the CVB’s vision, mission and posi�on on issues. 3. Represents the interests of stakeholders to other private and public cons�tuents. 4. Works with the Board of Directors on the development of policy, formula�on of plans, and oversight of associa�on opera�ons. Guides the delibera�ons and ac�vi�es of the Board and provides input and support to commitees and task teams. Responsible for the effec�ve governance of the associa�on, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regula�ons. 5. Works with staff to dis�nguish stakeholder needs, prospec�ve changes in the business environment and to iden�fy opportuni�es for new programs and new direc�ons for the organiza�on. Par�cipates in program formula�on, development and implementa�on. 6. Ensures the effec�ve u�liza�on of financial and human resources. Is solely responsible or the acquisi�on, direc�on and management of the staff of the associa�on. Provides direc�on and guidance to func�onal directors and reviews proposed changes in opera�onal policies and prac�ces.

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS Vice Presidents and Department Directors report to the Chief Execu�ve Officer. Frequent contact with all organiza�on staff members.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS The Chief Execu�ve Officer is appointed by the Board of Directors and operates under the immediate control of the Chairman. The Chief Execu�ve Officer has regular contact with the elected officers, the Board of Directors, task teams and commitees. Maintains personal contact with stakeholders and City Council to the greatest degree possible. Maintains appropriate rela�ons with business leaders, related organiza�ons, media and trade press to enhance the image of the associa�on and the atainment of its objec�ve.

Prior experience or knowledge of issues of concern to the economic development field preferred.

Evaluate the en�re organiza�on, including structure, staff, strategic plan, spending and roles and responsibili�es and make recommenda�ons on future direc�on. 3. Review the new service funding agreement with the city and the exis�ng strategic plan. Ensure both documents are aligned and make recommenda�ons for revising the strategic plan. 4. Evaluate the current sales, marke�ng and business plans, including target markets, campaigns, ini�a�ves, marke�ng channels and goals. Make recommenda�ons for changes.
