TAX OFFICE

Barbara Neinstedt Adubato, C.T.C. Tax Collector

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the neighborhood. Once you are settled, please contact the Tax office at (973) 838-0330 or stop in so we may answer any questions you may have. Office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, excluding holidays.

All new homeowners should have received a copy of their tax bill at their closing. If not, please request a new bill from us. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve your obligation as a taxpayer. The tax bills are sent out once a year in late June or early July. These bills include four stubs – one for each quarter.

Please make a note if you, the homeowner will be paying your taxes directly or if a mortgage company will be making your tax payments for you. If you are using a mortgage company, we require written authorization from the mortgage company stating that they are responsible for your payments. Once your mortgage is satisfied, please contact the Tax office.

Taxes are due four times a year, the first day of February, May, August, and November. We offer a ten-day grace period. After the grace period, state statute requires interest for overdue periods date back to the first of the month. We do not send reminder notices. You may pay your taxes by mail, in person or online (www.bloomingdalenj.net). If you pay by mail, we receipt your taxes based on the day we receive your check, not the date written on the check or postmark date.

There are various property tax relief programs that are offered by the state that you may qualify for. For more information, www.state.nj.us.treasury, Taxes, Property Tax Relief Program

We strive to perform the duties and responsibilities entrusted to us with respect and compassion. We are available 24/7 to meet the needs of those we serve. We encourage you to contact us should you have any questions. Our phone number is 973 838-8959 or email us at [email protected]

The Borough requires all dog and cat owners to license their pets with the town. This is the law and compliance bring benefits to you, your pet and the community. Applications are available on our website and at Borough Hall. The benefits of licensing your pet include:

*A way to ensure reunification in case your pet is ever lost. Anyone who has lost a pet knows how we worry about them until they are safe at home. The license tag can be quickly used to find your name and address and the authorities can notify you. This will bring about a quick reunion.

*Licensing is a way for the community to ensure that pets are protected against a fatal virus commonly known as rabies.

*The fees from licensing stay in the community and helps fund rabies clinics and support the animal control efforts in your community.

*The cost of the license is far less than the fine imposed if your dog is found without a license.

*Last, but not least, it is the law!

Free Rabies Clinics are held throughout the year. Please contact the Animal Control Department for dates and locations. All New Jersey pet owners are welcome to attend.
