Normandina simodensis is placed basal in a well-supported clade with N. pulchella and N. acroglypta, thus confirming Normandina as a monophyletic genus within Verrucariaceae. Norman- dina species agree in general ascoma morphology but differ in thallus structure and the mode of vegetative reproduction: crustose and sorediate in N. acroglypta; squamulose and sorediate in N. pulchella; and squamulose and esorediate in N. simodensis. Normandina Nyl. is a small genus comprising vex squamules with flat to downturned margins only three species at the world level (Aptroot, in N. simodensis. Independent phylogenetic analyses of a multigene dataset (RPB1, mtSSU, nuLSU) and an ITS- dataset combined with morphological and ecological characters confirm that the Verrucaria elaeomelaena agg. consists of several cryptic taxa. It includes V. elaeomelaena s.str. with mostly grey to mid-brown thalli and transparent exciple base which cannot be distinguished morphologically from several other unnamed clades from low elevations, the semi-cryptic V. humida spec. nov., which is characterised by smaller perithecia, shorter and more elongated spores compared to other species in this group and V. -

BREUSS Abstract: Notes are given on nine species of pyrenocarpous lichens from the West Indies, five of which are reported for the first time from the area. Anthracocarpon caribaeum is described as new, Verrucaria radiata is a new combination. Key words: Lichenized Ascomycetes, pyrenocarpous lichens, Anthracocarpon caribaeum spec, nov., Verrucaria radiata comb, nov., mycoflora of the West Indies. Introduction Unfortunately there is no comprehensive treatment of the lichens from the West Indies. A compilation of the taxa known until the 1950s was presented by IMSHAUG (1957). Since then additions have been made in various publications. The number of reported species exceeds 1.800, many of them being regarded as endemic. However, many groups of lichens reported from the West Indies have not been critically revised. In the course of his revisionary work on Verrucariaceae from the New World, the author encountered several species from the West Indies. As some of them are less known and might be of wider distribution though rare, short remarks on them are provided in the present paper. A new species is described in detail. The species Anthracocarpon caribaeum BREUSS, species nova Ab Anthracocarpo virescenti sporis minoribus, ellipsoideis et excipulis basaliter pallidis distat. -

This is the first report of Heteroplacidium from China. Key words—desert, ITS, lichen, morphology, taxonomy Introduction Breuss (1996) separated four genera—Anthracocarpon, Clavascidium, Heteroplacidium, and Involucropyrenium—from Catapyrenium Flot. s. lat. (Verrucariaceae) based on morphological characters. Neocatapyrenium H. Harada, Placidium A. Massal., and Scleropyrenium H. Harada are also morphologically related (Prieto & al. 2010b) but are independent monophyletic lineages within Verrucariaceae, according to phylogenetic analyses (Gueidan & al. 2007, 2009; Prieto & al. 2010b). Endocarpon Hedw. (Verrucariaceae) was relatively common during our field survey in the arid region of Northwest China (Yang & Wei 2008, Zhang & al. 2017a), but no species of Heteroplacidium Breuss was recorded. Descriptions of the collections accompany notes on geographic distribution, substrate, chemistry, and comparisons with morphologically similar taxa. Key words — Ascomycota, biodiversity, Lichinaceae, Physciaceae, Verrucariaceae Introduction Studies on the lichen biota of Turkey during the last four years have contributed many new records for the country (Aptroot & Yazici 2012; Arslan et al. 2011; Karagöz & Aslan 2012; Karagöz et al. 2011; Kinalioglu & Aptroot 2011; Osyczka et al. 2011; Vondrák et al. 2012, Yazici et al. 2012, 2011a,b, 2010a,b,c). Within our project “Lichen and Bryophyte flora of Burdur Province” we have found some lichenized fungi as new records for Turkey. Nonetheless, more research is needed in the remaining lichenologically unexplored areas of the country before we complete the lichen flora of Turkey. Although approximately 1650 lichen taxa (including 35 taxa of Buellia, 7 of Lempholemma, and 3 of Thelidium) have been recorded in Turkey, only 37 lichenized fungi have thus far been reported from Burdur (Aslan & Yazici 2013, Çobanoğlu 2005, Öztürk et al. -
