February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. 30 Rock: Complexity, Metareferentiality and the Contemporary Quality Sitcom Katrin Horn When the sitcom 30 Rock first aired in 2006 on NBC, the odds were against a renewal for a second season. Not only was it pitched against another new show with the same “behind the scenes”-idea, namely the drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. 30 Rock’s often absurd storylines, obscure references, quick- witted dialogues, and fast-paced punch lines furthermore did not make for easy consumption, and thus the show failed to attract a sizeable amount of viewers. While Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip did not become an instant success either, it still did comparatively well in the Nielson ratings and had the additional advantage of being a drama series produced by a household name, Aaron Sorkin1 of The West Wing (NBC, 1999-2006) fame, at a time when high-quality prime-time drama shows were dominating fan and critical debates about TV. Still, in a rather surprising programming decision NBC cancelled the drama series, renewed the comedy instead and later incorporated 30 Rock into its Thursday night line-up2 called “Comedy Night Done Right.”3 Here the show has been aired between other single-camera-comedy shows which, like 30 Rock, 1 | Aaron Sorkin has aEntwurf short cameo in “Plan B” (S5E18), in which he meets Liz Lemon as they both apply for the same writing job: Liz: Do I know you? Reichardt's dramas are small-scale symphonies; alchemical transmogrifications of the ordinary into gripping cinematic experiences. Often collaborating with the same creatives across multiple pictures, such as actor Michelle Williams and writer Jonathan Raymond, Reichardt's films turn the WENDY AND LUCY lens on those in some way at the margins of American communities. Be it a woman living out of her car in WENDY AND LUCY, a group of lost 1840s pioneers in MEEK'S CUTOFF, a reclusive ranch hand in CERTAIN WOMEN, or a hand-to-mouth ex-hippie in OLD JOY, Reichardt's characters, regardless of life circumstances, are deeply and richly human. There may be no other living filmmaker who so fully realizes Roger Ebert's assertion that "movies are the most powerful empathy machine in all the arts." All of which is to say nothing of her films' painterly cinematography, naturalistic and immersive sound design, and Reichardt's knack of scouting the perfect space for every scene, often in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. That is, companies who fail to train and properly hire drivers get to be dismissed from a case against them. This is a disincentive to do things the right way. And those companies who do hiring, training and safety the proper way, are placed at an economic disadvantage to those who do not. Bad bill. Texans lose on this one. Jason Boorstein Self Dallas, TX I became very concerned after reading the text of this bill. The bill aims to hurt individuals driving on our roads. I am concerned about commercial vehicles from Texas, other States and Countries getting a pass in Texas if they hurt or kill someone. I am concerned that if this bill passes, companies have less incentive to investigate bad drivers, self police their company, train and discipline. Please consider tabling this bill so that we can investigate the real ramification to Texans. Thank you. Guy Choate Webb, Stokes & Sparks, LLP San Angelo, TX I speak in opposition to this Bill. Texas highways would be made less safe by protecting the companies that put profits over safety as they put unsafe trucks and drivers on the road. Large trucks are disproportionately responsible for carnage on Texas highways. Trucking companies need more scrutiny, not less. Trucks do not have to be dangerous and truck drivers do not have to cause crashes. Good companies do not have the type of crashes that routinely plague Texas highways. -

The Wonder Years Episode & Music Guide “What would you do if I sang out of tune … would you stand up and walk out on me?" 6 seasons, 115 episodes and hundreds of great songs – this is “The Wonder Years”. This Episode & Music Guide offers a comprehensive overview of all the episodes and all the songs played during the show. The episode guide is based on the first complete TWY episode guide which was originally posted in the newsgroup rec.arts.tv in 1993. It was compiled by Kirk Golding with contributions by Kit Kimes. It was in turn based on the first TWY episode guide ever put together by Jerry Boyajian and posted in the newsgroup rec.arts.tv in September 1991. Both are used with permission. The music guide is the work of many people. Shane Hill and Dawayne Melancon corrected and inserted several songs. Kyle Gittins revised the list; Matt Wilson and Arno Hautala provided several corrections. It is close to complete but there are still a few blank spots. Used with permission. FEBRUARYFEBRUARY 20082008 PRODUCTION IN PALM BEACH COUNTY GROWS IN 2007! Production in Palm Beach County (PBC) rose 12% in 2007 to a total of $128,328,641 and hotel room nights have increased as well! PBC Film Commissioner, Chuck Elderd feels that Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) Spring Bling and the Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) are perfect examples of programs that have enhanced event based tourism. Elderd said, “These kinds of entertaining and high-end marketing vehicles are the key to drawing new visitors to PBC.” Other major productions that shot in the County include CBS’s Cane, commercials for Giant Food Stores, the Florida Marlins and LA Weight Loss and still photography shoots for Lacoste, Land Rover and Lilly Pulitzer. These projects brought plenty of cast and crew that stayed in local hotels and ate in area restaurants. Some of PBC’s most unique locations including the Singer Island Beach in Riviera Beach, Sugarcane Fields in Pahokee and the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach were featured in a range of projects. Hotels such as the Boca Courtyard Marriott, Hotel biba, the West Palm Beach Marriott, the Colony Hotel,Palm Beach and countless others welcomed productions throughout the year. Local industry professionals also think the state of the industry in PBC is strong! Monte Young, Young Entertainment Producer, believes that production in PBC will stay consistent with independent films and commercials leading the way, and Bob Peterson of National Teleproductions feels that as the mobile platform continues to dominate the industry, a greater number of small companies will produce videos at a lower cost than the standard.
