I first reviewed Gakuen PoliziVolume 2 when it came out in Japanese. Gakuen Polizi: v.2 know the phrase Women Gakuen Polizi: v.2 Refrigerators? It was coined by comic writer and amazing human, Gail Simone. It refers Gakuen Polizi: v.2 an incident in Green Lantern 54written by Ron Marz, in which Kyle Rayner, the title hero, comes home to his apartment to find that his girlfriend, Alexandra DeWitt, had been killed by the villain Major Force and stuffed into a refrigerator. In a nutshell, these issues are part Gakuen Polizi: v.2 the disenfranchising of female characters. There are some other problematic things Gakuen Polizi: v.2 the story. The relationship between a student and a teacher might be sincere, but will always be fraught. It was presented with some, but not enough context, just enough to make both characters sympathetic and the story less ham-handed, but the situation was still creepy. Sometimes, when I write a story, I find it taking off Gakuen Polizi: v.2 a dark place. This story needed that. It worked best when it was dealing with moments of human frailty and not big crime rings. The ending makes sense best if you recognize the characters from a doujinsh i Morinaga-sensei drew decades ago. To be honest, I assumed from the beginning that that story was the kernel for this manga. I have reread Girlfriends a few times but would never go back to Gakuen Polizi: v.2 one. It was easily the most frustrating thing about Girlfriends. That explores what comes next? This is exactly why I like Collectors. There is appetite, among women who are looking for representation, rather than an audience looking for fantasy. I know what you mean. Was never really in a rush to read the next volume; that feeling continues. Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. Email Address. While I do love this creator, sadly this wasn't my favorite work by her. I Gakuen Polizi: v.2 more. I feel like it was kinda lackluster. Correction, it did feel lackluster. Gakuen Polizi: v.2 27, Stephanie Toogood rated it really liked it. Not Milk Morinaga's best work, but still very enjoyable. Had some darker themes than I was expecting that were rather interesting. Jun 28, Selena rated it it was ok Shelves: japan-stuffmanga-manwha. If volume 1 was a goofy buddy cop series, volume 2 is a forced romantic love triangle with adult themes that were largely absent from the first volume. In this volume we meet Akari Hiiragi, Midori's former partner and a total jerk. Gakuen Polizi: v.2 serves as a romantic rival I guessbut she's really just there to get on Sasami's and our nerves. We also learn about the injury that Midori was hung up about, though I'm not sure how this happened given the circumstances. Story-wise, this volume contains a few If volume 1 was a goofy buddy cop series, volume 2 is a forced romantic love triangle with adult themes that were largely absent from the first volume. The second arc includes porn the involved characters are all adults and attempted rape. I don't like these kinds of stories, which is part of why volume 2 took such a hit in the Gakuen Polizi: v.2. The romance seems forced into overdrive this time around as well. It's like Morinaga realized there wasn't any girl love going on in the first volume, despite this being advertised as such, and had to overcompensate this time around. I think, too, that Morinaga realized there wasn't much policing going on either and ramped that up as Gakuen Polizi: v.2, though that didn't feel as forced. All in all, I probably should have stopped with volume 1. Mar 28, Bryan rated it liked it. I enjoyed this volume a bit more than the first. Character backgrounds are revealed which answered some questions I had. The crime the girls eventually solve is definitely a relevant one I was impressed Morinaga chose to include. The ending A really fun albeit too short series. I would say not to let Gakuen Polizi: v.2 under the age of 16 read it. I would love to see a couple of longer sequel series - one at police ac A really fun albeit too short series. I would love to see a couple of longer sequel series - one at police academy, one as detective partners. If you are a fan of Milk Morinaga, or teen slice-of-life, or buddy cop series, you will enjoy this. Feb 18, Heather rated it it was amazing Shelves: humormanga-manhwaromancecrime, mysterylgbtsupernatural. While volume 1 of this series is very cute and lighthearted, volume 2 is the complete opposite, as the girls get tangled up in an amateur porn, underage prostitution ring.
