Because the puppy was taught to love and trust by the puppy raiser it is able to become a working assistance dog. • 2016 Husker Harvest Days September 13-15, 2016 KSDS needs puppy raisers. In December of 2016 we will have approximately 20 new puppies that need puppy raisers. We invite you to become that person. KSDS puppy raising and training – it’s not just an individual affair, it takes the whole KSDS family to raise a KSDS puppy. BRENT BORING RESIGNING AS KSDS Co-CEO Brent Boring of Manhattan, Kansas has been a part of the KSDS fam- ily for over 20 years. Brent joined the Board of Directors in 2001 and became Co-CEO in 2014. In addition, he and his wife Marcia are raising their 13th puppy, Bailey. When Marcia retires this fall, Brent has de- cided to resign as CEO so that they have more freedom to travel. We are saddened that Brent will not be CEO, but he has agreed to continue as a KSDS member of the Board of Directors. And of course, there is Miss Bailey Assistance Dogs, Inc. who will continue to be their pride and joy as a breeder for KSDS. (KSDS) A 501(c) 3 non-profit, charitable organization Brent represents what’s right about KSDS! He supports the mission of 120 West 7th Street this organization and is our number one cheerleader. Brent has for years ended each graduation with genuine appreciation to the graduates, trainers, supporters, volunteers, staff and puppy raisers Washington, KS 66968 for all that they do. Sandy is a puppy raiser (PR) and is presently raising Clutch her eighth – Employees – KSDS puppy in training (PIT). Sandy heard about KSDS from an article in the Marcia Funke, Development Director Wichita Eagle over 20 years ago. Due to the poor health of her parents, she waited Sara Gustin, CHU Coordinator & until 2006 to begin raising her first pup, Watkins. She has been involved as a PR, a supporter and volunteer ever since. She presently serves on the Puppy Raiser Advi- Apprentice Trainer sory Committee. Sandy, along with her husband Bob, enjoy gardening, golfing and Anita Martin, Housekeeping (part-time) assisting Bob’s elderly parents to remain in their home. Gene Martin, Maintenance (part-time) Annette Metz, Service & Facility Sandy brings to KSDS over 35 years of school counseling experience including Training Instructor administrative responsibilities. She received her B.S. degree from Fort Hays State Kristi Myers, Canine Housing Unit University and her M.S. degree from Kansas State University. Her administrative (CHU) Coordinator certification was earned at FHSU. Sandy is excited to continue her involvement Letha Nelson, Client Services, with the KSDS family. Career Change Dogs JoAnn Nider, Receptionist (part-time) Sandy stated, “KSDS is an outstanding organization with an admirable mission.
