Webber Reserve is a public park, alcohol is not to be brought into the premises. Patrons are requested not to bring food or beverage products purchased at commercial outlets outside of the venue to Webber Reserve. Thank you for your assistance and understanding in this matter. On behalf of the Board, management & staff of NRL WA I would like to welcome you all to Webber Reserve for the 2020 Smarter than Smoking Junior Grand Final Day. With the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has certain- ly been an unprecedented and unforgettable year for our WA Rugby League community, our nation, and indeed for the world in general. Given the challenges that we have all had to face over the past 6 months, it has been a remarkable feat to collectively navigate our way through the season and to be able to celebrate today’s finale here at the new look home of the Willagee Bears RLC. Our thanks to all the players, parents, guardians, administrators, coaches, referees and volunteers for all your patience, cooperation and determination in working with the NRL WA team to salvage such a successful, albeit challenging season. Our gratitude also to all of our loyal partners and sponsors that have stood by us, in par- ticular Healthway, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Cash Converters, Consolidated Energy, All Flags Signs and Banners and Fleetwood/ISS. Likewise our appreciation to all the individual club sponsors for their invaluable support during difficult times. To all the teams competing today, congratulations on making it through to your respective Grand Finals. Play well, play fair, respect the officials, and enjoy the experience and the memories. John Sackson General Manager NRL WA PS. Please remember to practice the Covid-19 safety protocols including social distancing Enquiries for the Great Southern Nines please contact: [email protected] Player Spotlight U12’s, U13’s & GLT U12’s—North Beach Sea Eagles vs South Perth Lions Lincoln Williams & Austin Tutt Today’s day starts with an absolute belter, with two young halfbacks and playmakers shaping up in what will be an enthralling contest. Firstly, Link as he is affectionately known, is a classic halfback. Talking the whole game, willing his team on verbally and mentally, he also possesses a deft kicking and passing game, which was central to North Beach’s movement game this year. He will need to bring all that for today’s matchup, with Austin. “Tutty”, at 12 years old, is already displaying the hallmarks of today’s prototype playmaker. Strong and fast, with the ability to break a game open by himself, North Beach will need to be awake the whole game and make sure they shut down arguably the most dangerous player on the field. GLT—Ellenbrook Rabbitohs vs Alkimos Tigers Rosie McGehan & Terri Reti In 2020 we welcome the Alkimos Tigers girls to the big dance for the first time. And they take on female powerhouse Ellenbrook in this one. The Rabbitohs are led by dynamic try scorer Rosie McGehan. Fast and with great footwork, raw still comes to mind when you watch Rosie, so it begs the question. How good could she really be? But the Tigers have some ballers as well, with young Terri Reti making a statement 2 weeks ago, scoring a double in this top of the table clash and proving the difference in the Tigers victory. Can she replicate that form and crash the Rabbitohs party? 13’s—South Perth Lions vs Fremantle Roosters Khan Pokere & William Blair A flashy footwork winger, and the player everyone in the U13’s says is “the guy”. Khan is at a new club, in a new position, and with a new coach. And wow has it worked. Whether he is going and looking for work in the middle or finishing moves off out wide, Khan has flourished for the Lions. Meet William Blair. Wow. Outside of the physical, he is as determined a player as you will ever meet. On both sides of the ball. Offence and De- fence, he gives 200% every run and every tackle. Limiting his input on this game will be one of the keys for this contest. • Round 10 — 2017 WA Smarter Than Smoking Premiership — Team Lists
Edition 10 - 07/07/17 to 09/07/17 OFF THE FENCE PREVIEW - Kalamunda Bulldogs v Fremantle Roosters — Kick Off 3.30pm The Roosters will make the short trip over to Webber Reserve to play the Bulldogs this Saturday, and will look to continue their reign at the top of the ladder. Coming off a loss to the Sharks before the bye weekend, the Roosters will lean on their experienced players to get them back in the winning circle. The Bulldogs are ever improving, and it is only a matter of time before they get their maiden win of the season. North Beach Sea Eagles v Rockingham Sharks— Kick Off 3.30pm At Charles Riley, the Sea Eagles host the Rockingham Sharks. The Sharks are living up to their pre-season hype, and will be a tough test for the North Beach outfit. The North Beach form has been up and down this year, but they are coming off the back of some good performances. This game will be a good indication of where each team sits, and will be important in the race for finals football. Joondalup Giants v South Perth Lions— Kick Off 3.30pm The Giants host the Lions in their ‘Red Nose Charity Games’. With a 16-13 win to the Giants the last time these teams met, they will look to rediscover the form that put them at the top of the table. The Lions will look to display their tough brand of Rugby League that they are so well known for. This game has all the ingredients of a cracker, with the added incentive of the Giants leaping the Li- ons on the ladder if the result goes their way.

  • 2017 NRL WA Round 9 Senior News 16.06.17
NRL WA Blood Rivals Round Edition 9- 16/06/17 to 18/06/17 OFF THE FENCE PREVIEW - Fremantle Roosters v Rockingham Sharks - Kick Off 3.30pm In this week’s NRL WA Blood Rivals Round ‘Big Game of the Round’ the Fremantle Roosters will travel down to Franklin Offshore, and look to continue their good form of late. They are coming up against a rejuvenated Sharks team, who will look to get revenge after going down to the Roosters earlier this season. The Sharks have mixed youth and experience well so far this season, with West Coast Pirates SG Ball players Joshua Bransby and Tyler Hunt making the step up to the level of the Smarter than Smoking Premiership. On the other hand, the Roosters will look towards their ever-present Captain, Delane Edwards to pull the strings and guide his side to victory. South Perth Lions v North Beach Sea Eagles - Kick Off 3.30pm The Lions will welcome the Sea Eagles to George Burnett in their Round 9 clash. Indifferent form of late for both teams means that this game could throw up anything. The Lions have been in all of their games this season, but are yet to put together a full 80 minutes. Coach Justin ‘Barney’ Nixon will look towards Samuel Scari and Hugh Mackey to enforce the middle battle, which will be a tough ask against the Beach Boys. For North Beach, Gershom Adams and Ben Taylor will be integral to their team’s chances, and if both play a big game on the weekend, they will be hard to beat.
