‘STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART’ Cast Bios TERI POLO (Jordan Donovan) – Rising star Teri Polo starred in one of the top-rated theatrical films of 2000 “Meet the Parents,” playing the role of Pamela Byrnes opposite Ben Stiller. Due to the success of the original, Ms. Polo will be back in the sequel “Meet the Fockers,” playing Pamela Byrnes Focker. Other notable films Ms. Polo has recently starred in include “Domestic Disturbance” with John Travolta and “Second String” with Jon Voight. Ms. Polo has had multiple notable guest television appearances throughout the 1990s in hit comedies and dramas, including “Sports Night,” “Frasier,” “Felicity,” “Brimstone,” “Northern Exposure” and “Tales from the Crypt,” to name a few. Theatrical films include “Golden Gate,” “The House of Spirits,” “The Arrival,” “House of Frankenstein 1997,” “Quick,” “Aspen Extreme” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” TV films include Danielle Steele’s “Full Circle,” “The Van Helsing Chronicles,” “A Father for Brittany,” “Texarkana” and “The Marriage Fool.” But it is the sweeping popularity of the comedy “Meet the Parents” that launched Ms. Polo’s career into another strata. Upcoming projects for Ms. Polo in 2003 include “Unsaid” alongside Andy Garcia and “Dissolution” with Aidan Quinn. # # # HALLMARK CHANNEL/ “Straight From The Heart” Cast Bios – Page 2 ANDREW MCCARTHY (Tyler Ross) – A perpetually youthful actor who made his debut in “Class” (1983) and became associated (briefly) with the so-called “Brat Pack” of that decade, Mr. McCarthy’s vehicle to stardom came with the theatrical motion picture “St. Elmo’s Fire,” followed by “Heaven Help Us” (both 1985). Co-starring with Molly Ringwald as the unattainable heartthrob in “Pretty in Pink,” Andrew McCarthy’s popularity went to cult-like status.

‘COME DANCE WITH ME’ CAST BIOS ANDREW MCCARTHY (Jack) – At the age of 19, Andrew McCarthy made his screen debut in the feature film “Class,” paving the way for him to appear in more than 30 feature films, numerous television shows and more than two dozen live theater productions. One of the few actors working successfully and simultaneously in all mediums, McCarthy’s résumé is as extensive as it is versatile. It was during the 1980s that McCarthy gained recognition in Hollywood when he starred in such iconic films as “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “Pretty in Pink,” as well as the cult favorites “Mannequin” and “Weekend at Bernies.” The 90s saw him work with such esteemed directors as Claude Chabrol and John Frankenheimer and in films as varied as “The Joy Luck Club,” “Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle” and “Mulholland Falls” among others. McCarth co-starred in “Lipstick Jungle” as the billionaire Joe Bennett, alongside Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price. In addition to co-starring in the series, McCarthy also directed two episodes in Season two. McCarthy was also seen in Paramount’s fantasy adventure “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and filmed “Camp Hope,” along with a pair of episodes for the hit series “Royal Pains” and “White Collar.” He has also starred in the Hallmark Channel Original Movies “Straight from the Heart” and “The National Tree.” The last several years have seen McCarthy branch into directing and writing, with the award winning short film “News for the Church,” and in the theater, directing the acclaimed Off- Broadway production of Neil Labute’s Things We Said Today.

  • After 2 Decades, Pink Still a Rockstar Drinking and My Relationship with My Father
ARAB TIMES, THURSDAY, MAY 27, 2021 NEWS/FEATURES 13 People & Places Books ‘Acting save my life’ McCarthy ‘taps’ into 80s era with memoir NEW YORK, May 26, (AP): Andrew McCarthy admits he “fl ed” from his shaggy-haired 1980’s per- sona and didn’t look back for decades. Much like the slouchy blazers he wore in movies like “Pretty in Pink” and “St. Elmo’s Fire,” that Brat Pack moni- ker and image never really fi t. But time has put a soft fi lter on that era for the actor and he’s ready to refl ect on his early days as a movie star in his new memoir, “Brat: An 80’s Story,” which debuted ear- lier this month. Now a TV director, acclaimed travel writer, and best-selling author, McCarthy has been busy in re- cent years, if under the radar. He decided it was the right time to look back on his early life in acting and share stories about his adven- tures in Hollywood, compli- cated family relationships, addiction and recovery. The book helps explain the evolution of the Brat Pack — a group of young actors in- cluding Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson who dominated movies in the 1980’s and set cultural trends — and how McCarthy and others swept McCarthy into its vortex became the nostalgic “avatar of people’s youth.” In a recent interview with The Associated Press, he discussed reconciling his Brat Pack membership, his kids choosing to act, and which of his movies should be remade. Responses have been condensed for brevity and clarity.
