They made one-year qualifying offers to free safety Dashon Goldson, customized football jerseys, outside linebacker Manny Lawson and defensive end Ray McDonald. They made no offer to quarterback Troy Smith, nfl jerseys 2012,hockey jerseys for sale, suggesting they have no plans to bring him back. Goldson and McDonald each have four accrued seasons. Lawson has five. Players with at least four accrued seasons generally qualify for unrestricted free agency, auburn football jersey, but the expiring labor agreement upped the requirement to six seasons in 2010. The agreement doesn't cover 2011,nike combat nfl, but teams are operating under 2010 rules for now because no other rules exist without a new labor agreement. The current agreement is to expire Thursday, football jersey design, nhl kids jerseys, barring an extension.Kevin C. Cox/Getty ImagesDa'Quan Bowers amassed 74 tackles and 15.5 sacks for Clemson last season. We’ve all heard of the law of diminishing returns. Well, I think we just saw an example of the law of diminishing risk. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just used their second-round pick on Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers. The pick was No. 51,nfl home jersey, army football jersey, which is precisely 50 spots below where most people were saying Bowers would go back when talk about this draft really started in January. He’s the most dynamic pass-rusher in the draft and a freakish athlete. But he tumbled beyond all expectations as concerns about what could be a chronic knee problem surfaced and continued to grow. The Bucs supposedly considered Bowers in the first round at No. 20. But that’s where the law of diminishing returns might have played a role. Instead,2012 nike nfl jerseys, the Bucs went the safer route and chose Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn. He’s not as dynamic a pass-rusher as Bowers, ncaa jerseys,2012 new nfl jerseys, but he’s a complete defensive end and doesn’t come with a lot of questions. NFL Draft 2011 Coverage But the law of diminishing risk kicked in as the second round kept rolling and Bowers kept sliding. At No. 51,alabama football jersey, the risk isn’t nearly as great as it would have been at No. 20. The Bucs have played this game before and played it quite well. They took their shot on receiver Mike Williams in the fourth round last year. He came with some background questions and might have been a big risk if he had been taken any sooner. The returns came quickly as Williams instantly turned into Tampa Bay’s No. 1 receiver. I don’t know all the details that are in the medical reports about Bowers' knee, authentic nhl jerseys cheap, nike nfl jerseys 2012, but the Buccaneers obviously do. Like every other team, nfl customized jersey, they do their homework on these matters. They must feel like Bowers can at least be a productive player for a few years. With Clayborn and Bowers, even if his knee is a bit of an issue, boise state football jersey, the Bucs suddenly look a lot better at defensive end than they did last season. Stylez G. White and Tim Crowder were starters most of last year and they generated almost no pass rush. Even if the Bucs want to start off cautiously with Bowers and use him as a situational pass-rusher for 15 or 20 snaps a game, nfl football jerseys cheap, that gives them more of a threat than White and Crowder did over the course of an entire game. Clayborn’s the kind of guy who should play a lot of downs because he can play the run and generate a decent pass rush. There’s another theme emerging here. The Bucs used their first two picks on defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Brian Price in last year’s draft. This time, replica mlb jerseys, they did it with defensive ends. McCoy and Price showed promise last year and they should get a lot better with some help around them on the outside. Suddenly, university of michigan hockey jersey, nike nfl uniforms 2011,penn state hockey jersey, there’s at least the potential for the Bucs to have a very good defensive line. That should make the entire front seven a lot better. There weren’t a lot of big plays from the front seven as the Bucs ranked 30th in the league in sacks. In a 10-6 season that was highlighted by the emergence of quarterback Josh Freeman, ireland football jersey, Tampa Bay’s secondary was the only area of the defense that made plays. Now,miami hurricanes football jersey, there’s the potential for pressure up front, blank hockey jerseys, purdue football jersey, which should translate into more big plays for the secondary and maybe more wins for the Bucs. Even if his role is limited, discount nhl jerseys, Bowers should help the Bucs. In a best-case scenario, Bowers’ slide could end up bringing back very happy memories from the franchise’s past. Once upon a time, michigan hockey jersey, 1995 to be exact, design your own football jersey, there was a defensive lineman tumbling fast. He also had initially been projected as the No. 1 overall pick. But there were reports of a different nature (failed drug tests). The Bucs watched as that player slid. When their time came, authentic nfl jersey, nike jerseys for nfl, they assumed the risk. They drafted Warren Sapp. That worked out pretty darn well. If Bowers can bring half the impact Sapp did, nike nfl pro combat jerseys, this pick will be well worth the risk. 2010 STATS Browse our professional site for nike nfl jerseys,Cheap nhl jerseys, mlb Jerseys,Wholesale nba Jerseys,Discount nfl Jerseys, hockey Jerseys.Find sports jerseys for your favorite team or player with reasonable price from popnfljersey.com?¡ãA Maple Leaf Christmas Carol?¡À TorontoTruculent ??Twas the good night before the slowest gossip day relating to going to be the NHL season! • Image Reparation Attempts in the Nfl
SORRY, NOT SORRY: IMAGE REPARATION ATTEMPTS IN THE NFL by Jennifer L. Harker A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree MASTER OF ARTS Major Subject: Communication West Texas A&M University Canyon, Texas May 2015 This research was funded in part by a generous Killgore Research Grant awarded by the West Texas A&M University Graduate School. ABSTRACT This thesis is a rhetorical analysis of current trends in image reparation strategies used by the National Football League (NFL) in an effort to restore goodwill with its stakeholders following perceived transgressions. The 2014/2015 NFL season is discussed and analyzed using the lens of Image Reparation Theory. This research also set out to discover whether or not the NFL’s image repair strategies were rhetorically successful. Findings include the application of three general strategies; corrective action, evasion of responsibility, and reduce offensiveness; and the five sub-strategies of defeasibility, minimization, differentiation, attack the accuser, and bolstering. The implications of this research concludes that in sports image repair, use of the contradictory strategies of corrective action with defeasibility, or corrective action used with differentiation or minimization, is not universally effective. Bolstering likely is the key strategy to apply as it is consistently successful across stakeholders. The importance of strategic and proactive organizational communication cannot be overstated, consistency in player discipline is desperately needed in the NFL, and finally, dissociation of players who have engaged in an extreme transgression is suggested. Keywords: National Football League, image reparation theory, image reparation strategies, apologetic rhetoric, sports apologia, antapologia ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I wish to thank my thesis committee chair, Dr.
