TEMESH GAIKWAD SARDAR PATEL COLLEGE OF ENGG. B) General Instructions – 1. The period of Winter Internship 2017-18 will be commencing form 02/01/2018 to 28/02/2018 (08 Weeks). 2. The maximum period of Internship will be 08 weeks which has to be strictly adhered. 3. Interns shall report on 02nd Jan 2018 at 11.00am in MMRCL, Plot No. R-13, 'E'- Block, Namttri Building, BKC, Bandra East, MumbaI 400 051 for completion of the initial formalities in HR department. 4. The Interns will be required to report their respective departments Reporting Officer on 03.01.2018 5. Interns must carry their updated CV, ID proofs, college ID and endorsement letter from college in original. In event of non-submission of the documents the candidature will be cancelled. 6. Interns will not be provided with any stipend/remuneration/reimbursement towards expenses on travel/food/accommodation etc for the internship period. 7. Interns shall arrange stay accommodation on their own. MMRCL will not provide any assistance/remuneration/travelling allowance/daily allowance for the same. 8. The interns shall be dressed in formal attire during the Internship period. 9. Interns will have to ensure a minimum of 90% of attendance of the total duration of Internship program for issuance any certification if required from MMRCL. 10. The Interns shall abide by the safety protocol of the site and site-specific instruction regarding timing allocated for visits Intern shall strictly adhere to the deadline of completion of their respective projects in stipulated time period. 11. Interns will be required to submit copy of their Dissertation / Internship project report in hard & soft format to their Reporting Officer & HR Dept. 5 12. Interns shall be abide by Terms and Conditions as per the Internship Policy of the corporation. 13. On successful completion of Internship project, interns shall no lien of any nature regarding their employment with MMRCL. 14. When Meena Kumari came to know about Pran playing the shooting for five days, she instigated a disagreement with Mehboob Khan and titular role, she was not very much convinced by the choice of director. It was so, because during those days, Pran was more popular for portraying a suave villain which made Meena Kumari doubtful. But when she saw Pran on the first day of shooting, she was left awestruck and highly praised him for his acting skills and his huge transformation as the capricious tyrant Halaku. 1957: Sharada – directed by L.V. Prasad, was Meena Kumari's first venture with Raj Kapoor. A difficult role to essay, it was refused by all leading actresses of the day until Meena Kumari finally agreed. She won best actress at Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for her work. The film gained great critical suc - cess. The film was the ninth highest grossing film at the Indian Box Office in 1957 and was noted as one of her best performances. Miss Mary a comedy film directed by L.V. Prasad, starred Meena Kumari and Gemini Ganesan. The film was one of the biggest hits of that year. 1958: For Sahara directed by Lekhraj Bhakri, Meena Kumari received a Filmfare Best Actress nomination.Yahudi directed by Bimal Roy starred Meena Kumari, Dilip Kumar, Sohrab Modi, Nazir Hussain and Nigar Sultana. It was based on the play Yahudi Ki Ladki by Agha Hashar Kashmiri, a classic in Parsi Urdu theatre, about persecution of Jews in the Roman Empire.

    Contested Spaces: Performances of Marginality in Bollywood Cinema By Lauren Bettridge B.A. (Journalism), Curtin University, 2008 B.A. (Hons), The University of Western Australia, 2009 This thesis is presented for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of The University of Western Australia School of Humanities (Discipline of English and Cultural Studies) Supervised by Dr Shalmalee Palekar 2016 ABSTRACT As the most dominant cultural industry in India and with an increasing audience worldwide, Bollywood is becoming a louder participant in global popular culture. Challenging Eurocentric perceptions of inadequacy, this study seeks out performances of marginality that destabilise, disturb and dislocate the apparent hegemonic modality of modern Bollywood. In considering the representation of the other in popular Bollywood, I uncover marginal genres, themes, locations and gender representations. Contested Spaces: Performances of Marginality in Bollywood Cinema traverses the complex relationship between a nation and its cinema, and contributes and connects to a rapidly growing conversation with Bollywood and its others. This thesis attends to performances of marginality and otherness in popular Bollywood cinema by critically examining the production of contested spaces. In finding spaces where marginalised identities jostle for recognition, I assess the degree to which Bollywood cinema represents the Other. Driven by the urge to uncover alternative performances, I resist Bollywood scholarship that contends Bollywood cinema merely performs a conservative version of national ideology and western scholarship that subordinates Bollywood to Hollywood. I locate this thesis within a setting that contests the idea that globalisation has destroyed the nation, by demonstrating that there are radical and resistant ruptures forming at the margin.

Critics feel it as a serious concern that the voice, problem, crisis of the subaltern people have been bypassed by the show-biz of the Hindi film. Though the subaltern mass has performed an important role to form the backbone of Indian economy, Hindi films have abandoned the subaltern people by providing no importance to this crucial issue since Hindi film has largely focused on ‘entertainment’ only. Majority of the Hindi films have now addressed the wishes and aspirations of the N.R.I. except a few. But history has witnessed that once Hindi films were made showcasing a laborer or a peasant representing the subaltern community as its central protagonist. The filmmakers nurtured the scripts and directed the films with utmost care and concern for the have-nots and they also had immense empathy and sensitivity to the problem and crisis of the community belong to subalternity. ‘Neecha Nagar’ made by sensitive Director Chetan Anand tried to exhibit the unfathomable distance between the haves and the have-nots. The film advertisement catered to diverse film publics depending on the readership associated with specific magazines. The article focuses specifically on a collection of film advertisements published in English language magazines like Filmfare, Blitz, The Illustrated Weekly, Star and Style and Filmworld. These advertisements became part of a vast reservoir of visual culture that spilled out of magazine pages, catering to an order of perception that was quite different from that of posters or billboards. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Historian Carlo Ginzburg’s approach to the writing of history has been centrally concerned with how people view the world they live in, the methods adopted by them to access and organize forms of knowledge, and the different frameworks that are used to classify and process information, beliefs and observations. There is also a desire to document popular culture through an intricate interweaving and dialogue between verbal and visual components.
