Schlinger^ Introduction The cosmopolitan Ogcodes is the largest genus of the acrocerid or spider-parasite family. As the most highly evolved member of the subfamily Acrocerinae, I place it in the same general line of develop- ment as Holops Philippi, Villalus Cole, Thersitomyia Hunter, and a new South African genus.^ Ogcodes is most closely associated with the latter two genera . The Ogcodes species have never been treated from a world point of view, and this probably accounts for the considerable confusion that exists in the literature. However, several large regional works have been published that were found useful: Cole (1919, Nearctic), Brunetti (192G, miscellaneous species of the world, mostly from Africa and Australia), Pleske (1930, Palaearctic), Sack (1936. Palaearctic), and Sabrosky (1944, 1948, Nearctic). Up to this time 97 specific names have been applied to species and subspecies of this genus. Of these, 19 were considered synonyms, hence 78 species were assumed valid. Trudgen Western Australian Herbarium, Department of Environment and Conservation, Science Division, Locked Bag 104, Bentley Delivery Centre, Western Australia 6983, Australia Author for correspondence: [email protected] Abstract Eragrostis surreyana K.A.Sheph. & Trudgen sp. nov. is a diminutive annual lovegrass named for the late Surrey Jacobs (1946–2009). This species is restricted to seasonal wetland areas in the Pilbara Bioregion of Western Australia. Although it is quite widespread, E. surreyana is currently only known from five locations and it is likely it has suffered loss of populations through habitat degradation caused by sheep and cattle grazing. It is therefore considered to be a species of conservation concern. Eragrostis surreyana produces numerous culms and forms a small tussock. It is distinguished from related species by its flexuose rachilla, ovate lemmas and short hairs along the keel of each palea. A description, images and a map of the distribution of this new species is provided. Introduction The lovegrass genus Eragrostis Wolfis includes around 350 species world wide. Eragrostis has been revised for the Flora of Australia project (Palmer et al. 2005), a treatment that draws on the earlier work by Lazarides (1997). At that time there were 73 species recorded in Australia, of which 15 were considered to be weeds. Based on the current Western Australian Census there are 19 species of Eragrostis in the Pilbara Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) region, including two Priority Three conservation listed species (E. -

RYVES 44 Galsworthy Road, Kingston Hil/, Surrey ABSTRACT A key to a nd an annotated list of all 51 species of Eragroslis P. Beauv. which are known to have occurred in the British Isles are given. INTRODUCTION This paper provides a key to and an annotated list of the 51 species of Eragrostis P. Beauv. known to have occurred in the British Isles. At present there is no readily available key to these species, which originate from many parts of the world. Species of Eragrostis bear a superficial resemblance to those of Poa, both genera having unawned compressed spikelets consisting of many f1orets. However, the former differ in having 3-nerved lemmas (5-nerved in Poa), ligules which are nearly always ciliate or absent (membranous or almost absent in Poa), pointed leaves (often blunt in Poa), and no basal cottony hairs on the callus of the lemma (possessed by some species of Poa). There are at least 300 species of Eragroslis (some authorities give twice that number, according to taxonomic opinion) distributed over the warm-temperate and tropical regions of the world. Less than a dozen species are established in central and southern Europe, being mostly annuals which fruit freely in hot summers and with seeds that survive cold winters. Only one is established in the British Isles (in the Channel Islands) (McClintock 1975) but several other species, occurring as casuals, may occasionally set seed or even survive a mild winter. -

GREUTER and Euphorbia prostrata AITON were reported for the first time from the territory of Slovakia. The first one was recorded near Kúty (W Slovakia) at the highway D2; its occurrence was already expected in view of its well- documented expansion along the roads of Austria and the Czech Republic. The second species grows in a city pavement in Banská Bystrica (Central Slovakia); as a notable very isolated population existing probably due to the urban heat island effect. Beldie” herbarium hosted by I.N.C.D.S “Marin Drăcea”, Key words represent a landmark for botanists from the country and abroad, hosting a number of about 60,000 plants. Melica and Eragrostis are two representative herbarium, plants, leaves, genus of the herbarium from Poaceae family, in terms of historical and botanists collection value, the plants being kept in original portfolios, but also being representative in scientific terms. In this context, it should be specified that for all species of these two genus existing in the herbarium, there are recorder the place and date of collection, the name of the specialist who collected the specimen and the conservation status of the specimen. In addition to the presentation of an extract of the inventory of the two genus, which contains the data mentioned above, the present paper seeks to make known the species of the Melica and Eragrostis genus present on the herbarium, by briefly describing them morphologically and ecologically characteristics. At the same time, the paper presents the map of the specimens harvesting of the two genus in Romania and synthesizes graphically the harvesting periods between 1851 and 1975. -

Following European settlement of Australia, numerous plant species were deliberately introduced for use in crops, pastures, gardens and horticulture, and others arrived by chance. Many subsequently escaped and became weedy. Of the 54 weed species of natural environments of arid and semi-arid Australia that are considered here, 27 were apparently accidentally introduced, 20 were intentionally introduced and 7 were probably introduced both accidentally and intentionally. Livestock including camels and their harness, and contaminated seed and hay were the most common vectors for accidental introduction. Amongst intentional introductions, rather more ornamental species appear to have invaded successfully than pasture species, but the former generally occupy niche habitats. Recent new introductions are few due to pre-border, border and post-border protections, but many current arid zone weeds continue to spread. Understanding the history of weed invasions can help to guide current and future management by clarifying pathways for introduction. Additional keywords: camel harness, contaminants -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: Our recent field research and revision of some herbarium specimens led us to identify two species of Euphorbia (subgenus Chamaesyce), which we report now for the first time in the alien flora of Romania: Euphorbia serpens Kunth and E. glyptosperma Engelm. The first was collected in the city of Iaşi, north-eastern Romania, in September 2018. The second was collected, during 2005-2015, in several localities from the lower basin of the Siret river (Galați County), as well as from north-eastern Romania, near Ciurea (Iaşi County), but previously erroneously identified as “Euphorbia chamaesyce L.”. Both species, originating in the New World, are xenophytes, more or less naturalized in Europe, perhaps in full process of expansion of their secondary area. Keywords: alien plants, identification key, subgenus Chamaesyce, vascular flora. Introduction Euphorbia L. (Sp. Pl. 1: 450. 1753) is one of the most species-rich genus of flowering plants, with about 2,000 species distributed in all tropical or temperate regions of the world [PAHLEVANI & RIINA, 2011; BERRY & al. 2016]. The species of Euphorbia we further refer in the paper belong to the subgenus Chamaesyce Raf., section Anisophyllum Roeper.
