We will travel via private transportation to Puerto Natales (3 hrs), where we will meet our local guide at Hello Patagonia’s oFFice at Puerto Natales. Next is a 2 hr. afternoon drive to Torres del Paine National Park. The entrance Fee to the park is included. 3 14 November 2021 Our Adventure Begins at Seron DiFFiculty: Low Trekking: 3.5 hrs, 9 km Highlights: Paine Hill, Paine River. Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch box at Las Torres Refugio, Dinner at Seron Campsite Accommodation: Camping spots at Seron Campsite (Camping gear included, toilets and hot showers) From this point, you will start your incredible adventure to the Paine O Circuit. You will have the whole day to trek From Las Torres to Seron Campsite. You will have beautiFul views of the backside of Paine MassiF including: Oggioni Mountain and “Cerro de Indio”. The campsite is located on a nice plain very close to Dickson Lake. Day Date Description oF Services 5 16 November 2021 Los Perros DiFFiculty: Low Trekking: 4 hrs, 9 km (450m altitude gain) Highlights: Los Perros Glacier, Native Forests. Meals Included: Breakfast, Box lunch at Dickson Refuge, Dinner at Los Perros Campsite Accommodation: Camping spots at Los Perros Campsite (Camping gear included, toilets and hot showers) Today you will have a soft trek to gain back your strength and prepare For the John Gardner´s pass For the next day, which will be one of the most demanding days in the circuit. So, you will be able to enjoy this amazing trail that goes through some of the biggest native Forests in the park. Ancient trees that will make you Feel tiny. The trail goes across some native Forests, then the Forests end and you will trek on a moraine. The trail is very well marked all the way to The John Gardner’s Mountain Pass. The view From the top is just stunning: Grey Glacier and the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. After this, the trail goes down to Grey Refuge, which is very close to Grey Lake. From tonight on, you will sleep at reFugios (shared rooms, toilets and hot showers)! There will be many viewpoints to the Glacier and to Paine Grande Mountain along the way. 8 19 November 2021 The French Valley DiFFiculty: Medium to High Trekking: 8 to 9 hrs 26 km (500m altitude gain) Today you can choose the distance and time to trek Highlights: PehoeLake, Paine Horns, Paine Grande Mountain, French Glacier. Meals Included: Breakfast, Box Lunch at Paine Grande ReFuge, Dinner at Frances Domes Accommodation: Made up beds at Frances Domes (shared rooms, toilets and hot showers) Today you will discover the stunning French Valley. You will be able to see the French Glacier and its constant avalanches. These names refer to Famous climbing expeditions that set up base camps when they came to climb the various granite faces in this Valley. You will get to an incredible lookout, which ofFers a panoramic view of the western sector of the French Valley and the mountains such as the North Peak oF Paine Grande, Castillo (Castle), Cota 2000, Catedral, Aleta del Tiburon (Shark’s Fin) amongst other granite peaks. After exploring the valley, you will get to Frances Domes. ABSTRACT We present here a review of the current glaciological knowledge of the Southern Patagonia Icefield (SPI). With an area of 13,000 km2 and 48 major glaciers, the SPI is the largest ice mass in the Southern Hemisphere outside of Antarctica. The glacier inventory and recent glacier variations are presented, as well as ice thickness data and its variations, ice velocity, ablation, accumulation, hydrological characteristics, climate changes and implications for sea level rise. Most ofthe glaciers have been retreating, with a few in a state of equilibrium and advance. Glacier retreat is interpreted primarily as a response to regional atmospheric warrning and to a lesser extent, to precipitation decrease observed during the last century in this region. The general retreat of SPI has resulted in an estimated contribution of 6% to the global rise in sea level due to melting of small glaciers and ice caps. Many glaciological characteristics of the SPI, in particular its mass balance, need to be determined more precisely. 2. INTRODUCTION The Southern Patagonia Icefield (SPI) extends north-south for 370 km, between 48°15' S and 51°35' S, at an average longitude of73°30' W (Figure 1). Its mean width is 35 km, and the minimum width is 9 km. The first detailed glacier inventory was compiled by Aniya el al. (1996), who showed that the SPI is composed of 48 major outlet glaciers and over 100 small cirque and valley glaciers. These glaciers flow frorn the Patagonian Andes to the east and west, generally terminating with calving fronts in freshwater lakes (east) and Pacific Ocean fjords (west).

    CHILE - Torres del Paine Circuit TREK OVERVIEW This is a true classic – one of the greatest walks in the world. This 100km circuit takes you around and up into the heart of stunning mountain scenery. The pink granite towers, coated with crystalline snow and ice, protrude skywards from the core of the massif, which itself is almost completely encircled by mighty lakes and gleaming glaciers. Here you are surrounded by glaciated mountains but with the added bonus that altitude is not a factor as the highest point of the trek is the JohnGarnerPass at just 1300m. Twice on the trek we leave the ‘ring road’ and head inwards to the centre of the circle, up the Valle Frances and then the Rio Ascencio for amazing close up views of the teeth-like, granite towers such as the Hoja (Blade) and the Espada (Sword).     PAINE BIG CIRCUIT (7D/6N) (PBC) (2018 – 2019) 6N Camping Start/end Puerto Natales This is the most famous trekking route of Patagonia in Torres Del Paine National Park. Hiking an average of seven hours daily in a circuit covering over a hundred kilometers, you’ll encounter Granite Mountains, endless glaciers, turquoise colored lakes, and the most impressive views of the Southern Ice Field. You will have the chance to do an ice hike on the Glacier Grey and climb a glacier wall with technical equipment. This adventure will carry you through a windy world of unexpected weather changes and provide you with a chance to enjoy a variety of wildlife. Day 1 At 7:30 AM we pick you up at your lodging in Puerto Natales. Our transfer takes us along an unpaved road heading to Torres Del Paine. When entering the Park, we will have excellent picture taking opportunities of guanacos (llama family) and Grey foxes, driving alongside lagoons frequented by Chilean flamencos and black-necked swans. We will start our first day trekking to the base of the Towers, following the Ascencio River to enter the Ascencio Valley. Our walk will be uphill for one hour before stopping to observe the first glimpses of the valley surrounded by unbelievable beech forests (Nothofagus family), glaciers and waterfalls. We’ll continue through the valley for another hour and a half before ascending a huge terminal moraine to a lookout (900 M), excellent for picture taking. At this point we will be surrounded by three giant granite towers (2850 M) and a lagoon with slurry waters due to erosion produced by glaciers.
