I Research Text New Hotels in Berlin The Number of Hotels in Berlin Continues to Rise Berlin, September 2017 Berlin has one of the most modern hotel landscapes in Europe. From the luxury segment to the low-budget end, visitors to Berlin can currently choose from more than 140,000 beds in 781 establishments. In 2017, new large hotels are springing up at Alexanderplatz and in the City West. More than 1,800 rooms are being built there. Hotel Openings in 2017: Developments in Mitte and City West Hotel Provocateur on Brandenburgische Straße in Wilmersdorf opened in March. With its 59 rooms, it focuses on elegant design in black and red. The foyer and bar are adorned with impressive chandeliers. Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu, Frankfurt hoteliers and initiators of the project, are promising a burlesque-sensual, urban design hotel. It offers 344 rooms with a modern design over nine floors. An expansive convention area with conference rooms and a hall for up to 1,000 participants is planned, as well as a multi-functional hall for receptions and exhibitions. The highlight will be the sky bar on the top floor of the 54-metre-high hotel tower. The new building will offer more 500 rooms. It is scheduled to be completed in 2018, offering 85 rooms over ten floors. Some of these are long-stay apartments for visitors spending a number of weeks in Berlin. The interior design of the hotel is inspired by Japanese tea rooms. The in-house breakfast café connects to a gallery exhibiting works from the collection of owner Felix Gädeke. Also set to be finished by 2018 is the Schultheiss Quartier on the grounds of the former brewery of the same name on Turmstraße in Moabit. At 176 metres, the new tower will be around 2.5 times as high as the present Hotel Estrel, making it the highest hotel tower in Germany.
