Adult Education Summer Brochure 2021 to 2022 Your local Link into Learning Part time qualification and leisure courses 2021/22 This is an interactive toolkit. Elements have roll over and clickable content to add more detail or help navigate to further information. www.cornwall.gov.uk/adultlearning • Call 0300 1231 117 Welcome As I write we are hopeful that Adult Education will be offering close to our normal face-to-face programme as the world emerges from the pandemic. We will also be looking to hang onto some of the moves forward we have made since the lockdowns, so you will also see opportunities for online learning. We know that more and more people will need to change their position in the job market and develop skills and qualifications to do that. We are particularly keen to get people to think about English and maths qualifications because we know that getting one has the potential to change your life. 1000 people are doing this every year with Adult Education, and you could be one of them. It works well to do this alongside an ICT qualification - see page 9/10. Did you know that people who have a Level 2 maths qualification are far more likely to earn a higher salary than those who don’t? To get an introductory ‘Step-in’ please see page 11. If you think you can’t go to university, think again with our Access to Higher Education programme - see page 14/15. You could study Health and Social Care, more relevant now than ever, or go into our exciting new option of Music Technology. The pandemic has also shown us the importance of health and well-being, dealing with loneliness and looking after our mental health. We can offer you courses in arts, craft and media, languages, and a wide range of interest, health and fitness options. We hope to see you shortly and give you the learning you need. Coastal biodiversity opportunities in the South West Region. English Nature Research Reports, No. 640. Foreword This study was commissioned by English Nature to identify environmental enhancement opportunities in advance of the production of second generation Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs). This work has therefore helped to raise awareness amongst operating authorities, of biodiversity opportunities linked to the implementation of SMP policies. It is also the intention that taking such an approach will integrate shoreline management with the long term evolution of the coast and help deliver the targets set out in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In addition, Defra High Level Target 4 for Flood and Coastal Defence on biodiversity requires all operating authorities (coastal local authorities and the Environment Agency), to take account of biodiversity, as detailed below: Target 4 - Biodiversity By when By whom A. Ensure no net loss to habitats covered by Biodiversity Continuous All operating Action Plans and seek opportunities for environmental authorities enhancements B.

Cornish Mineral Reference Manual Peter Golley and Richard Williams April 1995 First published 1995 by Endsleigh Publications in association with Cornish Hillside Publications © Endsleigh Publications 1995 ISBN 0 9519419 9 2 Endsleigh Publications Endsleigh House 50 Daniell Road Truro, Cornwall TR1 2DA England Printed in Great Britain by Short Run Press Ltd, Exeter. Introduction Cornwall's mining history stretches back 2,000 years; its mineralogy dates from comparatively recent times. In his Alphabetum Minerale (Truro, 1682) Becher wrote that he knew of no place on earth that surpassed Cornwall in the number and variety of its minerals. Hogg's 'Manual of Mineralogy' (Truro 1825) is subtitled 'in wich [sic] is shown how much Cornwall contributes to the illustration of the science', although the manual is not exclusively based on Cornish minerals. It was Garby (TRGSC, 1848) who was the first to offer a systematic list of Cornish species, with locations in his 'Catalogue of Minerals'. Garby was followed twenty-three years later by Collins' A Handbook to the Mineralogy of Cornwall and Devon' (1871; 1892 with addenda, the latter being reprinted by Bradford Barton of Truro in 1969). Collins followed this with a supplement in 1911. (JRIC Vol. xvii, pt.2.). Finally the torch was taken up by Robson in 1944 in the form of his 'Cornish Mineral Index' (TRGSC Vol. xvii), his amendments and additions were published in the same Transactions in 1952. All these sources are well known, but the next to appear is regrettably much less so. it would never the less be only just to mention Purser's 'Minerals and locations in S.W.
