High-level awareness-raising meeting on the UNECE Air Convention and roundtable discussion on the analysis of national air quality legislation and National Action Plan for ratification of the Convention’s key protocols 25 September, ,  ЕМЕP Protocol  Protocol on the Reduction of Sulphur Emissions  Protocol on the Control of NOx Emissions  Protocol on the Control of VOC Emissions  Protocol on further reduction of sulphur  Protocol on Heavy Metals (Cd, Pb, Hg)  Protocol on POPs (PAHs, PCDD/F, HCB, PCBs)  The Gothenburg Protocol (SOx, NOx, VOCs, NH3, PM2.5) Protocol on Long-term Financing of the Cooperative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long- range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe (EMEP)

Armenia ratified EMEP protocol in 2014.

EMEP has three main components:

 Measurement of air and precipitation quality;  Collection of emission data for sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other air pollutants;  Modeling of atmospheric dispersion.

Air Quality Monitoring under EMEP program

At present, more than 200 monitoring stations in 40 UNECE countries participate in the programme.

Armenia, Amberd Station Transboundary Air Quality Monitoring

EMEP (Amberd) station is located on Latitude 40°23'04.0''N the slope of , in Longitude 44 °15'38.1''E accordance with general guidelines Altitude 2080m of EMEP for monitoring background concentrations of air pollutants in Armenia. The station is in operation since September 2009.
