Jump to The 2016 campaign and the New York Primary The Democratic Campaign and the Candidates The Republican Campaign and the Candidates The Beltway and the Supreme Court Foreign policy, defense and trade Obamacare and health policy The economy and society The 2016 Campaign and the New York Primary On Saturday, American Thinker looks at the election dynamics between the Democratic and Republican frontrunners, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York billionaire Donald Trump. They comment that while Clinton has a fairly firm floor (and fixed ceiling) of support, Trump has a fluid floor and ceiling, leading to a great deal of uncertainty as how he might perform as the GOP’s presidential nominee. FiveThirtyEight writes this week that, despite what some might think, Donald Trump does not have the monopoly on intolerant supporters; Clinton and Sanders’ supporters can be just as intolerant as well. Still on the subject of who might vote for whom, The Daily Signal says that only 2 million voters in seven battleground counties will actually decide who the next president will be.

  • The 635 Is Dead, Long Live the 635A!
MICROPHONE FACTS for the operating engineer from ~feeZb.)6,e,® ELECTRO-VOICE, INCORPORATED BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN 49107 616 / 695-6831 LOU BURROUGHS PAUL FRANKLIN October, 1965 THE 635 IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE 635A! By the time you receive this letter, the long popular Model 635 will have been replaced by the all-new Model 635A. There is an increasing demand for a small, lightweight, high output microphone for stand and hand held use. It was with these things in mind that field tests began many months ago on a redesign of the Model 635. During the field investigations into the design of the 635A various prototypes passed through many hands and a number of comments and opinions were accumulated guiding us to a more complete and versatile microphone than we alone could have conceived. I want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who helped guide us to the final product. Following are some of the answers found through tests we were able to make under your operating conditions. STEEL CASE DESIGN A steel case proved to be superior for shielding purposes and when machined from one particular special steel alloy proved to be exceptional from a mechanical shock standpoint. Thus it was ideal for use in a micro phone designed for hand held use where it is subject to the roughest treatment a microphone will receive in normal operations. I have one unit that was purposely dropped on hardwood and concrete floors twenty-seven times during tests without altering its frequency response. INTERNAL SHOCK ABSORBER A great deal of the ability of the 635A to withstand these many drops is due to the steel case, but there is another contributing unit, an internal jelly-like nest supporting the dynamic element.

Sheigra DXpedition Report 12 th to 25 th October 2019 - with Dave Kenny & Alan Pennington This was the 58th DXpedition to Sheigra in Sutherland on the far north western tip of the Scottish mainland, just south of Cape Wrath. DXers made the first long drive up here in 1979, so this we guess, was the 40 th anniversary? And the DXers who first made the trip to Sheigra in 1979 to listen to MW would probably notice little change here today: the single-track road ending in the same cluster of cottages, the cemetery besides the track towards the sea and, beyond that, the machair in front of Sheigra’s sandy bay. And surrounding Sheigra, the wild windswept hillsides, lochans and rocky cliffs pounded by the Atlantic. (You can read reports on our 18 most recent Sheigra DXpeditions on the BDXC website here: http://bdxc.org.uk/articles.html ) Below: Sheigra from the north: Arkle and Ben Stack the mountains on the horizon. Once again we made Murdo’s traditional crofter’s cottage our DX base. From here our long wire Beverage aerials can radiate out across the hillsides towards the sea and the Americas to the west and north west, and eastwards towards Asia, parallel to the old, and now very rough, peat track which continues on north east into the open moors after the tarmac road ends at Sheigra. right: Dave earths the Caribbean Beverage. We were fortunate to experience good MW conditions throughout our fortnight’s stay, thanks to very low solar activity. And on the last couple of days we were treated to some superb conditions with AM signals from the
