Jump to The 2016 campaign and the New York Primary The Democratic Campaign and the Candidates The Republican Campaign and the Candidates The Beltway and the Supreme Court Foreign policy, defense and trade Obamacare and health policy The economy and society The 2016 Campaign and the New York Primary On Saturday, American Thinker looks at the election dynamics between the Democratic and Republican frontrunners, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York billionaire Donald Trump. They comment that while Clinton has a fairly firm floor (and fixed ceiling) of support, Trump has a fluid floor and ceiling, leading to a great deal of uncertainty as how he might perform as the GOP’s presidential nominee. FiveThirtyEight writes this week that, despite what some might think, Donald Trump does not have the monopoly on intolerant supporters; Clinton and Sanders’ supporters can be just as intolerant as well. Still on the subject of who might vote for whom, The Daily Signal says that only 2 million voters in seven battleground counties will actually decide who the next president will be.

A Message from L. Brent Bozell III MRC FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT There’s no doubt that the political and economic landscape changed dramatically in 2008. The Left took power amid economic chaos and the most biased election coverage I have seen – and that’s saying something after tracking media for 21 years. The media pulled out all stops to elect The One. The silver lining is that the public is on to them. As a nonprofi t, MRC did not work to elect or oppose any candidate. But we did our job so well that a majority of Americans now know that the liberal media emperor has no clothes. In fact, the media itself became an election story because MRC helped make it one, with thousands of timely articles, commentaries, interviews and grassroots activism. In 2008, MRC material was cited by blogs, newspa- pers, news services, TV news, magazines and other news sources 9,473 times, an average of 31 times a day.

  • Salem Communications' Acquisition of Eagle Publishing Creates Conservative Multi-Media Powerhouse
January 13, 2014 Salem Communications' Acquisition of Eagle Publishing Creates Conservative Multi-Media Powerhouse Salem Acquires Several Influential Conservative Brands, Including Regnery Publishing, Human Events and RedState.com CAMARILLO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/13/14 -- Salem Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: SALM) today announced the acquisition of the assets of Eagle Publishing, including Regnery Publishing, HumanEvents.com, and Redstate.com, as well as sister companies Eagle Financial Publications and Eagle Wellness. Adding Eagle's business units to Salem's already considerable portfolio of multi-media assets creates a conservative media powerhouse. The two companies represent many of conservatism's finest voices in talk radio, book publishing and digital media. Salem's syndicated programming, individual radio stations, and popular websites reach millions of listeners and readers across the country, while Regnery Publishing, RedState.com, and Human Events provide compelling ideas and opinion to millions of conservatives online and in print. The acquisition of these highly regarded conservative media properties will allow Salem to strengthen and deepen their already extensive presence in the conservative market. Edward G. Atsinger III, president and chief executive officer of Salem, said: "Eagle is one of the most influential companies in the conservative media space. Its addition to Salem brings together a unique portfolio of conservative media properties and fits with our strategy of integrating traditional media and new media assets all serving the same target audience. The opportunity we like most about this acquisition is that each of Eagle's businesses matches up so well with Salem's extensive media platform. With 102 radio stations and a dozen major national websites all targeting the conservative community, this provides a perfect marketing platform to promote Eagle's products to a wider audience." "It is hard to believe more than 20 years have passed since I started Eagle Publishing," noted Tom Phillips, owner and chairman of Eagle Publishing.

Jump to The 2016 campaign This week’s primaries The Democratic Campaign and the Candidates The Republican Campaign and the Candidates The Obama Administration The Beltway and the Supreme Court Foreign policy, defense and trade Obamacare and health policy The economy and society The 2016 Campaign The Federalist this week writes that Mormons could stop New York billionaire Donald Trump from becoming president, after last week former 2012 presidential candidate (and Mormon) Mitt Romney endorsed Texas Senator Ted Cruz and called Trump’s politics ‘repulsive’. They say that Mormons ‘do not care much for liars’, which is why Trump will lose the Utah caucuses this week, which will hurt his presidential chances. The Lonely Conservative also talks Utah, arguing that if Trump is the GOP’s nominee, Utah will go to the Democratic nominee, despite being a relatively red state. Writing Friday, FiveThirtyEight says that Trump will have a hard time turning blue states red in November. Speaking of states, The Fix profiles the five big states which are very likely to decide the nominations for both parties: California, New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Clear Information Submit Petition “Free Our Health Care Now!” Petition Executive Summary I. WHY A HEALTH CARE PETITION? President Obama and Congress are currently pushing health care “reform” that will have the effect of socializing U.S. health care and imposing on all Americans the inefficiencies and dangers found in Canada and Great Britain. If they succeed, most Americans will be forced into a government-run health insurance market and enrolled in a government-run health plan. As a result, most Americans will enjoy less choice, more limited access and an increased tax burden. Ultimately, under ObamaCare, a government-sponsored monopoly will replace the competitive market as the nation’s health care provider, and replace the doctor as the party responsible for determining proper patient care. II: THE IMPLICATIONS OF OBAMACARE Under ObamaCare, the federal government will increase its health care spending by $1.5 trillion over the next decade. In an effort to compel participation, the government will impose upon employers a play-or-pay mandate requiring them to provide employees with insurance (i.e. “play”) or pay a tax on noncompliance. As a result, employer-provided health insurance will unravel. Today's individual market will vanish as will the small group market. In the absence of a competitive market, Medicaid will necessarily expand, foisted upon middle class Americans. In time, most people will receive health insurance exclusively through a government subsidized and regulated “exchange.” Tragically, ObamaCare will have no positive effect upon the principle problems of cost, quality, and access: • Increasing Cost.
