Shri Ramesh Kumar Dokania has set in motion the actions needed to obtain mining lease for a stone deposit located in Idpe mouza at Pathna block in Sahibganj district. The total area covering the proposed leasehold is 7.17 acre i.e. 2.90385 ha. 2. The material to be mined is usually termed as stone which find ready market in construction activities including road, railway and dwelling houses within as well as outside Jharkhand. In fact, the road construction projects sponsored by both central and state Govt. have generated good demand for road metals. 3. Govt. of Jharkhand has made it mandatory to prepare and submit “Mining Plan” highlighting mining methodologies of extracting mineral deposit (in this case stone) as well as outlining the “Environmental Management Plan” before application for granting/ renewal/ continuation of lease and environmental clearance can be taken up for consideration. A mining plan apart from being a document for pursuing scientific mining suggest measures to contain any likely adverse impact on environment and ecology. 4. While preparing the mining plan, due consideration has been made to ensure that the relevant provisions under MMDR Act 1957, MMR 1961 and Mines Act 1952 as well as Mines Rules 1955 are adhered to. The relevant provisions of rules and guidelines drawn up by Govt. of Jharkhand for mining of minor minerals have been kept in mind while preparing the “Mining Plan”. 5. The “Mining Plan” preparation is broadly based on Maps and data provided by the applicant. Discussion with the applicant (prospecting lessee) Help of standard publication, books, maps etc. wherever thought necessary. Prevailing technical norms. Site visit J.P. Required numbers of competent and qualified persons as prescribed under mines act, regulation and rules made there under as well as for properly carrying out technically competent and safe mining operation have been recommended in the “Mining Plan” report. 7. While most of the Devi/Devata stories seem merely entertaining and regale us with various anecdotes, there are those who are fierce, passionate and self- determined beyond imagination. One such story is that of Devi Sati. This month, we bring you the tale of Goddess Sati and how she came to be. Sati, also known as Dakshayani, is a Hindu Goddess of longevity and marital felicity. An aspect of Parvati or Goddess Adi Shakti, Dakshayani is the first consort of Lord Shiva. Sati is known to be extremely fiery, with a frightening temper. However, she is also loving and extremely benevolent by nature. According to Hindu legend, both Sati and Parvati are aspects of the Devi, who helped Shiva come away from his ascetic isolation and involve himself in Samsara (the material world). Sati is famous (and sometimes, rather infamous) for the fact that she immolated herself in the sacrificial fire, when she saw that her husband was being humiliated. So intense was her love, loyalty and passion for her husband, that she could not tolerate to live on when he was being belittled by her own father.
