The Wind Singer is an Epic Family Fantasy Musical Adventure about a fierce girl, in a dystopian world, who sets out on a quest to find the Wind Singer’s lost voice and free her people from a cruel regime. Kestrel Hath kicks back- she has the kind of “girl-power” and intelligence that Lyra Belacqua and Katniss Everdeen weald. On the fearful journey she takes her twin bother Bowman and a strange outcast boy called Mumpo -everyone’s strength and ingenuity is tested. This is a “Heart wringing celebration of Love” (Sunday Times) where the bond of family, friendship and mutual support win over cruelty and rigidity. The Wind Singer has an electro-acoustic score featuring an array of percussion, tuned wine glasses, musical saw and an owl. We want to explore ideas around aerial silk dance, puppetry and choirs. Ideally a Cast of 15 and Band of 8.
