SSJCA Guidelines for School Visits SSJCA Guidelines for School Visits Aim: Our public and private schools are the richest source of future player registration for the association. As such, the aim of this paper is to establish guidelines for access into the school system, to foster development and growth in our playing numbers and seek increased development opportunities for our young players. Initiative: Every club is encouraged by the SSJCA and Cricket NSW to initiate communications with their local schools, to run information sessions, provide promotion and ultimately run development centres in the school. NSW Cricket can provide assistance when requested, and this can be co- ordinated through the association. Pre-Season: The SSJCA will prior to the season commencing, attempt to advertise in all school’s newsletter’s with a Generic advertisement, listing the merits of cricket, the playing conditions and that clubs are available to you in all areas of the Shire. It will reference the website www.ssjca.com.au. Guidelines: In Table 1.1 shown below, each club without an allegiance to a Catholic School, are assigned approx 800 students within the public school system. Those with Catholic School connections are allocated 400 students. With these schools, you are encouraged to: Freely publicise your own club in flyers, school newsletters etc. Arrange and perform clinics, informing SSJCA prior to attending. Clinics can be used to promote only those clubs in attendance. For those schools, not listed against any club, you can: Freely publicise your own club in flyers, school newsletters etc. Arrange and perform clinics, informing SSJCA prior to attending. Clinics are to advertise the SSJCA, promoting cricket and all our members by listing on the back of advertising material “Cricket in the Sutherland Shire is supported by a range of member clubs – for more information on a club near you, visit www.ssjca.com.au”. For those schools where they are listed against another club, you can: Approach the club listed, requesting access to the School. Upon approval, arrange and perform clinics, and inform the SSJCA. Clinics can be used to promote those clubs in attendance. You should list on the back of advertising material “Cricket in the Sutherland Shire is supported by a range of member clubs – for more information on a club near you, visit www.ssjca.com.au”. Scope of Guidelines: The scope of these guidelines is for formal approaches by clubs into school or schools to clubs. If a School approaches a club, it doesn’t affect the guidelines and the club contacted should assist the School in contacting the appropriate club. Any miscellaneous communications (including advertising in the School newsletter) are not affected by these guidelines.     Tech Talk Sydney March Technical 2021 High School PRESENTATION DAY PRINCIPAL Speech day was extremely successful this year and it was the first occasion whereby this ceremony was simultaneously delivered live to our student NEWS body and via social media to our community. I was acutely aware of the far- reaching effect this livestream meant to family, relatives, alumni and friends as we were able to gather and celebrate our student success on a global level. We warmly welcomed back Sam Dando, ex-Deputy Principal, who was responsible for creating the “Sydney Technical High School Wall of Fame” in 2005. Mr Dando delivered a lovely speech about formally celebrating the achievements of our “Old Boys”. Mr Dando’s lovely memoirs of our alumni demonstrated high achievement in many diverse areas including: “inventors, surgeons, medical specialists, musicians, artists, dancers, architects, academics, administrators, economists, businessmen, educators, writers, politicians, engineers, media producers and personalities, sportsmen, Steven So sports administrators, and military Principal commanders”. This is a wonderful testament to the diverse success of our Alumni which is underpinned by the strong educational foundations provided at Sydney Technical High School. L-R: Jerry Mouzakis, Daniel Nemani (School I would like to thank the large team of Captain) and Sam Dando staff and students who made this event possible and acknowledge the never ending support of the Parents and Citizens Committee.     Enrolment Policy Updated June 2019 Girraween High School is a fully academically selective high school. Enrolments are capped at 120 for Years 7–10 and 140 for Years 11–12. New vacancies are limited in Years 8–10 and only arise when a current student leaves. However, an additional class is formed for Year 11 and at least 20 places are offered. Enrolment into Year 12 would, in the majority of circumstances, be an educational disadvantage for the student. Therefore enrolment into Year 12 would be highly unlikely and would be at the discretion of the Principal. 1. Entry to Year 7 1.1 The High Performing Students Unit (HPSU) administers all aspects of Year 7 placement. This information may be accessed as follows: http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/learning/k-6assessments/shsplacement/index.php Therefore Girraween High School has no control of entry into Year 7. 2.
