The signature low- slung leather belt of harmonica’s, mischievous grin and high energy performances. Yet, there is a tenderness and vulnerability as well. Since fronting the 1980’s blues rock band, The Phantoms, Jerome continues his personal journey of musical and spiritual growth. Here, in the new millennium, with his newest recording “Rooting Out My Devils” he remains true to that path. “Anything you want to get good at involves hard work. For me, that work is meditation. To become more compassionate you have to notice how uncompassionate you are at times. Meditating helps me to get to know myself so I can trust my motives.” Jerome said. “When I’m pretty rock’n roll and while with my band One previously unconscious attitudes and beliefs come doing business it’s healthy to be aware of the Monkey, I came across a pamphlet on Vipassana to the surface daily. subtext of why I do things.” Meditation and felt this was it! • Aint Gonna Study War No More / Down by the Riverside
The Danish Peace Academy 1 Holger Terp: Aint gonna study war no more Ain't gonna study war no more By Holger Terp American gospel, workers- and peace song. Author: Text: Unknown, after 1917. Music: John J. Nolan 1902. Alternative titles: “Ain' go'n' to study war no mo'”, “Ain't gonna grieve my Lord no more”, “Ain't Gwine to Study War No More”, “Down by de Ribberside”, “Down by the River”, “Down by the Riverside”, “Going to Pull My War-Clothes” and “Study war no more” A very old spiritual that was originally known as Study War No More. It started out as a song associated with the slaves’ struggle for freedom, but after the American Civil War (1861-65) it became a very high-spirited peace song for people who were fed up with fighting.1 And the folk singer Pete Seeger notes on the record “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy and Other Love Songs”, that: "'Down by the Riverside' is, of course, one of the oldest of the Negro spirituals, coming out of the South in the years following the Civil War."2 But is the song as we know it today really as old as it is claimed without any sources? The earliest printed version of “Ain't gonna study war no more” is from 1918; while the notes to the song were published in 1902 as music to a love song by John J. Nolan.3 1 http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/grovemusic/spirituals,_hymns,_gospel_songs.htm 2 Thanks to Ulf Sandberg, Sweden, for the Pete Seeger quote.

  • Claudettes New Album Press Release
THE CLAUDETTES UNLEASH DANCE SCANDAL AT THE GYMNASIUM! MARCH 23 ON YELLOW DOG RECORDS Chicago collective’s third full-length album, produced by Grammy-winning Black Keys producer Mark Neill, whips punked-up blues, biting lyrics, ’60s pop-soul and indie-rock anthems into a delicious smorgasbord. CHICAGO, IL — An old upright piano, a snarling electric bass, Phil Spector-ized booming drums and seductive Cool School vocals get into a punk-blues brawl at the studio of Grammy-winning Black Keys producer Mark Neill. On their head-spinning new album, The Claudettes summon vaudeville blues, ’60s soul and Cramps-like psychobilly. Behold Dance Scandal at the Gymnasium!, the band’s third full-length for Yellow Dog Records and first to feature their touring lineup of piano, drums, “Bass VI” guitar and three singers. Pianist/songwriter Johnny Iguana airs grievances about the numbing and divisive effects of an Internet-dominated world all across these songs. “Nobody knows how to talk to each other these days,” begins the song “Give It All Up for Good,” while “Bill Played Saxophone” follows American political nemeses through periods of smoldering bitterness and revenge fantasies. “Death and Traffic” begs for stories of saved lives and heroism amidst the onslaught of bad news, then “Utterly Absurd” bemoans the age of the hair-trigger Google search: “Thought dies as transmission rise…‘fast and now’ killed ‘I know how.’” And need anything more be said about the prescience of “Naked on the Internet”? Neill invited the Claudettes to his Georgia studio after being introduced to the band by Dave Cobb (Grammy-winning producer of Sturgill Simpson and Lake Street Dive).
