Ensuring effective control over devices Transforming traditional infrastructure into through a locked-down kiosk mode a dynamic modern one, with scalability and cost-effectiveness The Challenge AU Bank has an extensive network of operations comprising over 11500 employees spread across its 500+ locations in the country. A significant percentage of these employees work as the company’s ‘feet on the street’ connecting with individuals outside of the institutional infrastructure. To ensure effective customer relationship management, the company distributed over 5000 devices (tablets and smartphones) among its employees, enabling them to conduct their activities digitally. For AU Bank it was important to ensure that the devices distributed amongst its employees are put to appropriate use, especially in an environment that is outside the physical infrastructure of the company. It needed to ensure that the devices are not used for unauthorized purposes and no security vulnerabilities develop because of third-party applications being installed on the device. The company also needed to ensure compliance with RBI guidelines on the native encryption of all finance and banking related data before transmission. To overcome all these challenges, the company needed to manage all the devices centrally, and have complete control over their usage and security. The data on the devices could be protected with restrictions on transfer and limited user control. VMware’s solution also helped AU Bank meet the RBI guidelines by ensuring all financial data on the device is encrypted before any transfer. Integrating access control, application management, and multi-platform endpoint management, the enterprise mobility platform provided AU Bank with a secure digital workspace. It helped the bank with solutions that were simple, flexible and fast. The new infrastructure was not only scalable for AU Bank but also cost-effective. India Customer Showcase | 2019.
