GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION: This event will be held at Camp Rainey Mountain in Clayton, GA. COST: See registration form for fee amounts and deadlines. REGISTRATION: Please complete the enclosed registration form and submit with your event fees to the Jefferson Service Center (PO Box 399 Jefferson, GA 30549) OR at Camporee Headquarters upon check-in if you are registering on-site. IF YOU PLAN TO REGISTER ON SITE, PLEASE CALL THE JEFFERSON SERVICE CENTER at 1-800-699-8806 and speak with Lee Sykes. Calling will help us plan to be able to provide your troop with arrangements and program supplies. THEME: This year’s camporee theme will be “Spy -vs- Spy”. We will have several events in a relay fashion. Please see schedule and description for more details. WHO: Any BSA Troop or Venture Crew currently registered with the of America is invited to attend. MATERIALS NEEDED: (see event descriptions for more information) Rope, poles, #10 cans with handle (1 per ), paper and pencil, tarp or blanket, and fire building materials. See event descriptions for detailed needs. PARKING After troops set up campsites Friday night, ALL vehicles must be parked in the designated parking areas. Troop trailers may be left in the troop campsites. Vehicles are not permitted back into camp until departure Sunday morning. CAMPING AREA: The troop camping areas will be in designated areas around the campground. TENTS MAY NOT BE PROVIDED, SO BE PREPARED AND BRING TENTS! SITES: Troop campsite assignments will be made upon check-in at the Camporee Headquarters on Friday night.

WATER: Water is available for troops at the campgrounds. Troops should bring jugs to use for water storage & transport to their individual sites. FIRES: No new campfire rings will be permitted. Please use existing fire rings. Troops will need to ensure fires are always kept in established campfire rings to keep campfire off the ground. Please also provide your own firewood. These policies help us follow Leave no Trace & the Outdoor Code: As an American, I will do my best to- Be Clean in my outdoor manners Be careful with fire. Be considerate of the outdoors and To be conservation-minded.

SANITATION: Toilet facilities will be available. Please do your best to keep them all clean and in good, working order. Field latrines WILL NOT BE ALLOWED! Please clean your restrooms before you checkout. SAFETY: Normal safety precautions should be taken at these events - no throwing of rocks or other objects, no sheath knives or machetes, no liquid fuel or open flames in tents, no unattended fires, etc. All accidental injuries should be referred immediately to the Medical officer or Camporee Headquarters. CONDUCT: The and Scout Oath are the code of conduct at the Camporee. FIRST AID: Trained medical personnel will be available at Camporee Headquarters to treat any injuries or major illnesses. TRASH: Please bag all of your trash and police your campsite. All trash must be taken to the dumpster located at the campground.

UNIFORM: The complete Official Scout Uniform (Class A/Field Uniform) should be worn at all Flag Ceremonies and campfires. Class B/Activity Uniform should be worn during camporee activities. A “spy agent” outfit is permitted in lieu of the Class B for the activities. Please make sure it is appropriate. We are encouraging dressing up for the activities as a spy agent. If you need to ask it is probably not appropriate. CHECKOUT: When troops are ready to depart Sunday morning, please stop in and check out with the staff at Camporee Headquarters. EVENTS:

1) MANHUNT – FRIDAY NIGHT After the SPL meeting, there will be a camp wide game of Manhunt. The rules of Manhunt are quite simple. A single person or group of people hides while everyone else looks for them. The game ends once all the hiders have been found. We will set some boundaries before starting the game so the seekers have a chance to find the hiders.

2) Uniform & Flag Inspection

At Saturday morning flag raising, Uniform Inspection and Troop/Patrol flag inspection will be conducted and scored on enclosed scoresheet.

3) Spy Apprentice

This will encompass the requirements of the Scout Rank. This will take place during the daylight hours on Saturday.

4) Agent

This will encompass the requirements of the Tenderfoot Rank. This will take place during the daylight hours on Saturday.

5) Birdwatcher – Intelligence Operative

This will encompass the requirements of the Second Class Rank. This will take place during the daylight hours on Saturday.

6) Spymaster

This will encompass the requirements of the First Class Rank. This will take place during the daylight hours on Saturday.

7) Sniper The rifle merit badge will be available at the range. Please indicate on registration (cost is an additional $15 per Scout).

8) Tracker Geocaching merit badge. Sign up at check-in.

9) Secret Communication Specialist

The Radio merit badge will be available. Sign up at check-in.

10) Blind Escape

The patrol faces a challenge of being completely blind and the SPL will help them navigate the environment. This event will be held after dark.

11) Secret Stranger This will be a Q & A to figure out who will be the good agent and who will be the bad agent. This event will be held after dark.

12) Dead Drop

Patrols will use GPS receivers or compasses to locate multiple dead drops with different clues. This event will be held after dark.

13) Spy Rescue

This will be another event using a compass and a grid pattern to rescue a spy. This event will be timed. This event will be held after dark.

14) Enemy Encampment: This event will be a reconnaissance mission to rescue the SPL. This event will be held after dark.

15) Mystery Mission:

This event will be disclosed at camp. This event will be held after dark.

16) Spy Swag:

Points will be awarded to the team/groups that have the best spy outfits. Scoring System

• Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 teams/groups Sunday at formation

• Each activity will award 5 points for 1st place, 3 points for 2nd place and 1 point for participating and finishing the activity

• The team/troop with the most points will be first place, second most points second place, etc.

UNIFORM / FLAG INSPECTION SCORE SHEET General Appearance. = 15 pts. 1) Good posture 3 points 2) Clean face and hands 3 points 3) Combed hair 3 points 4) Neatly dressed 3 points 5) Clean fingernails 3 points Headgear. = 5 pts. All troop members must wear the headgear chosen by vote of the troop. Neckwear. = 5 pts. The troop may vote to wear a neckerchief, bolo tie, or no neckwear. In any case, the collar should be unbuttoned. The troop has the choice of wearing the neckerchief over the turned-under collar or under the open collar Shirt. = 10 pts. Official shirt or official long- or short sleeve uniform shirt with green shoulder loops on epaulets. Pants/Shorts. = 15 pts. Official pants or official uniform pants or shorts; no cuffs.

Belt. = 5 pts. Official Boy Scout web with BSA insignia on buckle; or official leather with international style buckle or buckle of your choice, worn only if voted by the troop. Members wear one of the belts chosen by vote of the troop. Socks. = 5 pts. Official socks with official shorts or pants. (Long socks are optional with shorts.) Shoes. = 5 pts. Leather or canvas, neat and clean. Registration. = 5 pts. Current membership card or temporary certificate on person

Insignia. = 30 pts. Correct placement: left pocket 5 points right pocket 5 points left sleeve 5 points right sleeve 5 points merit badge sash 5 points shoulder epaulets 5 points Troop/Patrol Flag = 10 bonus points for troop flag, 20 bonus points for patrol flags UNIFORM INSPEFCTION CONTINUED. - INSIGNIA Official Placement of Insignia Conduct the uniform inspection with common sense; the basic rule is neatness. (Refer to the information below for proper placement of insignias.) Merit Badge Sash: If worn, merit badges are attached to front (and back, if needed) of sash. Temporary insignia may be worn on back. Shoulder Epaulets: Green shoulder loops identify Boy Scouting (all members of a troop). Right Sleeve: U.S. flag emblem centered directly below shoulder seam. Only the most recently earned Centennial Quality Unit Award may be worn below patrol emblem or below the National Honor Patrol star. Musician badge, if in band or drum corps, is worn ½ inch below patrol emblem. Left Sleeve: Council shoulder emblem, unit numeral, and veteran unit bar are worn as shown snug up and touching each other. On the official shirt, the badge of office is centered on the pocket, as shown. On the official uniform shirt, the badge of office is centered and touching the unit numeral or centered 4 inches below the shoulder seam. On the shirt, the Trained Leader emblem is centered as shown at the top of the pocket flap. On the official uniform shirt the veteran unit bar (25, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, or 80 years) is positioned above and touching troop

9 numeral and in turn touching council emblem. Den chief cord is worn over the left shoulder, under epaulet. Right Pocket: insignia (only one) worn above BSA or interpreter strip. lodge insignia worn on pocket flap. Temporary insignia worn centered on the pocket or hung from the button. Nameplate, if worn, is centered above the BSA strip, interpreter strip, and Venture or Varsity strip. If no Order of the Arrow lodge emblem is worn, the name plate is centered on the pocket flap. Left Pocket: Service stars are centered above the pocket, 3⁄4 inch from top point to top point and 3⁄8 inch from either the pocket or embroidered knots. Embroidered square knots are worn centered above the pocket in rows of three. Not more than five medals may be worn, pinned centered immediately above the pocket (extending over knots if both are worn). The wearing sequence for knots or medals is at the wearer’s discretion and lead color is to the wearer’s right. Badges of rank are worn centered on the pocket above the Arrow of Light Award, as shown. The World Crest emblem is worn centered horizontally over the left pocket and vertically between the left shoulder seam and the top of the pocket. Uniform points.
