The Idaho State Police (ISP) has an exciting career opportunity available for those interested in enforcing laws, serving people, and enhancing the quality of life in the State of Idaho. You must meet the criteria in the ISP Drug Policy and also pass an extensive background which will include credit, work, criminal history, and reference checks. Psychological, medical, physical fitness, and polygraph examinations as well as substance screening will also be administered by ISP. Inaccurate, withheld, or concealed information will be cause for rejection. A conviction or withheld judgment for any local, state, or federal crime may be grounds for rejection. There may be the possibility of starting as an underfil in a lower classification and lower pay rate prior to the start of the Advanced Training Course. This position is budgeted at $20.66 to $23.04 per hour DOE, - Plus Competitive Benefits! RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide assistance and service to the citizens of Idaho Perform traffic control and enforcement Conduct motor vehicle crash investigations Prepare reports Conduct criminal investigations Process and investigate crime scenes Effectively present testimony in a court of law Be proficient in the use of firearms Many other duties as assigned Some specialty assignments include crash reconstruction, firearms instructor, drug recognition expert, field training officer, motorcycle patrol, capitol security, and commercial vehicle safety.
