  • 2020 Buffalo Fanatics Draft Prospectus
2020 Buffalo Fanatics Draft Prospectus Director of College Scouting Steve Mathes _ @JudgeMathes Positional Outlook Quarterback Buffalo is not going to look to rock the boat by bringing in a legitimate threat to Josh Allen’s job, they believe in him as the franchise QB. Players Met With or “Linked-To” Likewise, they don’t appear to be looking to challenge Matt Barkley as a James Morgan - Florida International back-up either. He has a great relationship with Allen, isn’t threatening his job, and brings traits Allen doesn’t have like anticipatory throwing they hope will rub off on him. That leaves Davis Webb, the practice squad QB, as the only one at real risk of competition. The Bills met with Morgan, but this was before his stock significantly heated up. If the Bills decide to challenge Webb look for a UDFA QB to be the guy to do it. Running Back The Buffalo Bills have only two viable runners on their roster currently in Devin Singletary and TJ Yeldon. They will look to add a third to this tandem to replace Players Met With or “Linked-To” the departed Frank Gore. Cam Akers - Florida St. Gore was known as the “bruiser”. When he was on the field defenses tended to JK Dobbins - Ohio St. know what was coming. It appears from their list of potential targets the Bills Clyde Edwards-Hellaire - LSU are looking to buck that trend. Darrynton Evans - Appalachian St. Zack Moss - Utah On their list are mostly “All-Purpose Backs” and one guy who is all traits (SPEED) D’Andre Swift - Georgia in Darrynton Evans.

  • Heisman Trivia
Heisman Trivia HEISMAN.COM @HEISMANTROPHY 318 Did you know...? Some Facts about the Heisman Trophy • Designed by sculptor Frank Eliscu in 1934, the Heisman Trivia Trophy is modeled after Ed Smith, Eliscu’s former high school classmate and star running back for the now defunct New York University football team. • Regarding the Heisman Memorial Trophy, Frank Eliscu said, "It is not my best work but it turned out to be something like the Statue of Liberty. I always thought it was wonderful that I'll be able to leave something like this behind." Eliscu continued working until he passed away from a heart attack in 1996. • The trophy is made of cast bronze, stands 13.5 inches (34.3 cm) tall and weighs 25 pounds (11.3 kg). • The first Heisman Trophy was awarded to Chicago’s Jay Berwanger in 1935. Initially, it was known then as the Down- town Athletic Club Award. After John Heisman, the legend- ary college coach and DAC athletics director, succumbed to pneumonia in 1936, the award was renamed in his honor. • Initially, the Downtown Athletic Club Award was given to, "the best college football player, east of the Mississippi." Once the award was renamed the Heisman Trophy, the geographical limitations were removed and players of all col- leges, from coast to coast, were eligible to win the award. • In 1935 Jay Berwanger did not have any room in his home for the trophy and gave it to his Aunt. Berwanger’s aunt was not familiar with college football and did not realize that the trophy meant her nephew was the best player in college football, so she used it as an extravagant doorstop.

  • WEEK 5 OUTLAND TROPHY MATCHUPS PRESENTED by the NATIONAL FOUNDATION for INFECTIOUS DISEASES OHIO STATE at PENN STATE, 8 P.M
IN THE TRENCHES: WEEK 5 OUTLAND TROPHY MATCHUPS PRESENTED BY THE NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES OHIO STATE AT PENN STATE, 8 p.m. ET on ABC This week our Outland Trophy sojourn takes us to Happy Valley, where these two titans meet in a game that is sure to have conference championship and College Football Playoff implications. Buckle up for this prime-time gem – it’s a matchup that offers the nation’s top two scoring offenses with players on the preseason Outland Trophy Watch List in both lineups. These two programs always feast on their potent ground games, but this season Ohio State has added one of the nation’s best passing attacks to date, and it’s the men up front helping to make it happen. The Buckeyes have put up 40 or more points and 500 or more yards in each of their first four games and are No. 3 nationally in total offense (599.0 yards per game), No. 2 in scoring offense (54.5 points per game) and No. 6 in passing offense (365.8 yards/game). Junior center Michael Jordan (Canton, Mich.) has Ohio State rolling at unprecedented clips in the first month of the season, scoring 30 touchdowns so far, with 12 of them coming on plays of 20 yards or more. Senior captain and right tackle Isaiah Prince (Greenbelt, Md.) has steadied the pass protection, giving quarterback Dwayne Haskins plenty of time to operate. Haskins has a Big Ten-leading 16 touchdowns, and he’s the first quarterback in Big Ten history to throw for five touchdowns twice in the first four games of the season.
