Keynote Speaker – Dan Shapiro, Ph.D. is the Vice Dean for Faculty and Administrative Affairs at the Penn State College of Medicine. Shapiro will be speaking about how cancer is portrayed on television. He is currently a consultant to the hit television show “Grey’s Anatomy” and previously for “Private Practice”. Shapiro has written three books, Mom’s Marijuana, about his personal cancer experience, Delivering Doctor Amelia, which focused on his psychological treatment of a physician, and his third book, And in Health, focuses on thriving as a couple in the face of cancer, which was featured in the New York Times. He has co-starred on several TV shows and is currently filming a new show, TBA!

Keynote Speaker – G. Terry Madonna, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center of Politics and Public Affairs, Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, and is also the Director of the F&M College Poll. His academic writings have appeared in Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, The Polling Report, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Pennsylvania History, Intellect, Academe, and The Journal of Practical Politics. He is the current host of the weekly Pennsylvania news and commentary program, Pennsylvania Newsmakers. Dr. Madonna appeared on CNN’s Inside Politics, CBS News, and ABC News, to name a few. He regularly contributes to political websites such as MSNBC and .

Inspirational Speaker – Adele Levine, P.T. is the author of “Run, Don’t Walk”. The book has been described as “M*A*S*H meets Scrubs” in a sharply observant, darkly funny, and totally unique memoir from physical therapist, Adele Levine, about her six years spent at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. As body armor and advanced trauma care helped save the lives—if not the limbs—of American soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, Walter Reed quickly became the world leader in amputee rehabilitation. Levine’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Psychology Today, and the Washingtonian. All registered attendees will receive a copy of “Run, Don’t Walk”.
