NOTES FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS

1. Clubs – Please note that there will be no Film Club on Wednesday 6 th November. Many apologies for any inconvenience.

2. Family Liaison Officer – Mrs Arnold, Family Liaison Officer (FLO) for the Aspire Federation, is available to provide pastoral support to parents/carers. She is based at Kingswood on a Tuesday morning and is available for meetings and phone calls throughout the week. Should you have a personal concern or school related issue, please contact the school office and we will arrange for Mrs Arnold to contact you.

3. SENCO – Mrs Le Mar, Aspire Federation Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) will be available to meet with Kingswood parents on the morning of Thursday 14th November. Please contact the office if you would like to make an appointment. If you cannot make this date, please contact the office or email [email protected] directly to make an alternative appointment.

4. Poppy Appeal 2019 – We will again be supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and have an assortment of poppy related items (wristbands, snap bands, reflectors and zip pulls) available to purchase for a donation of £1 per item. Year 6 will be selling the items at break times next week. Thank you for your support.

5. School Office – Please note that the school office will be closed from 2.30pm on Tuesday 5 th November.

6. Parent Governor Election – We are pleased to advise you that Mrs Emma Austin, Kingswood parent, has been elected as parent governor on the Aspire Federation Governing Body.

7. Walnuts! – The Friends of Leeds & Broomfield Church will be selling fresh local walnuts at their monthly coffee meet this Saturday. If you are interested, please call Jenny 01622 861280 or email [email protected] for further details.

8. Staff News – A message from Miss Hickling, Executive Headteacher: - ‘I am pleased to announce that a panel of governors, myself and KCC and diocese representatives have appointed a new head of school for Leeds and Broomfield, Mrs Steer. She will take up post in January. She is currently the assistant headteacher at Bredhurst, another small church of school. She has specialisms in Early Years and PE. We look forward to welcoming her. Mrs Tennant one of our PPA cover staff has left due to ill health, we wish her a speedy recovery. I have appointed a replacement for January, Mrs Michaela Colegate (formerly Miss Gray). Some of you may remember her from Leeds, I am pleased to be welcoming her back. A new part time administration assistant has been appointed for Leeds and Broomfield following the departure of Mrs Newcombe, Mrs Lisa Minnis. I look forward to welcoming her. Mrs Ward remains off sick, the senior leadership team are providing cover for the school and will continue to do so until January.’

9. Birch Class - Miss Jones will be out of school for the next 2 weeks. Mr Clarke- Serret will be joining us in Birch Class during that time. Miss Jones will hopefully be back with us on Monday 18th November.

10. Walk on Wednesday - This year’s Walk on Wednesday scheme starts on Wednesday 6 th November. Please encourage your child to walk, scoot, cycle or ‘park and stride’ to school. To get us off to a flying start, children in the class winning the first Walk on Wednesday trophy (the highest percentage of walkers) will receive a voucher for free child entry to the Pirate Cove Adventure Park. I hope that you will feel able to support this scheme which aims to reduce traffic and, therefore, hazards and pollution around the school. Thank you.

11. Attendance Flyer – An Attendance Fact Sheet from the KCC Attendance Service has been sent home with the children this week which you may find helpful.

12. Build It Club – Unfortunately, Mrs Thompson will not be able to continue with Build It Club due to the low number of participants. Monday 4 th November will be the last session. A letter from Mrs Thompson has been sent to the children that have signed up this term.
