Traffic Signing and Pavement Markings General Notes
TOWN OF QUEEN CREEK Development Services Department Traffic Engineering Program TRAFFIC SIGNING AND PAVEMENT 22358 S. Ellsworth Road Queen Creek, Arizona 85142 MARKINGS GENERAL NOTES Signing Plan General Notes 1. The Town Traffic Engineer shall be notified at 480-358-3132 at least five business days prior to beginning any signing work associated with these plans. 2. The Town Traffic Engineer may require the Contractor to adjust signing locations, off- sets and types of signs at the time of installation. 3. All signing materials and installation shall conform to Town requirements, the Arizona Department of Transportation Standard Drawings and Specifications, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (latest ADOT approved edition) and direction from the Town Traffic Engineer at time of installation. 4. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Town Traffic Engineering Division prior to ordering any materials to obtain the latest signing requirements and specifications. 5. The Contractor shall notify the Traffic Engineering Division at 480-358-3132 upon completion of all signing work to schedule a final inspection. The Contractor shall supply all required warranty documents to the Town Traffic Engineering Division prior to final job acceptance. 6. All existing signs temporarily removed by the contractor shall be salvaged for reinstallation by the Contractor. All signs permanently removed by the Contractor shall be salvaged and returned to the Town. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for maintaining each sign that is removed, ensuring that the signs integrity is maintained. In the event the sign is damaged, the Contractor shall be responsible for its replacement. 7. All signs and sign posts shall be installed per ADOT Standard Drawing S-3. -

Temporary Traffic Control Manual First Edition Temporary Traffic Control Manual • • • Engineering Judgement The 2009 MUTCD (Arizona Supplement) states in Section 1A.13 (64), “Engineering Judgement – the evaluation of available pertinent information, and the application of appropriate principles, provisions, and practices as contained in this Manual and other sources, for the purpose of deciding upon the applicability, design, operation, or installation of a traffic control device. Engineering judgement shall be exercised by an engineer, or by an individual working under the supervision of an engineer, through the application of procedures and criteria established by the engineer. Documentation of engineering judgement is not required.” No single publication would be able to cover all diverse conditions and circumstances a Temporary Traffic Control practitioner may encounter in governing traffic on city streets. Engineering judgment is essential in applying the principles and practices contained in this 2017 Temporary Traffic Control Manual (TTCM). Variations from the requirements and typical illustrations in this manual may be needed based on analysis and engineering judgment of a specific situation. The City Traffic Engineer shall have the final authority with respect to such variations. Chapter 7: Transportation Mode Choice, Safety & Connections Comprehensive Plan 2040 7-2 TRANSPORTATION City of Lake Elmo Comprehensive Plan 2040 INTRODUCTION The purpose of the Transportation Chapter is to guide development, maintenance, and improvement of the community’s transportation network. This Chapter incorporates and addresses the City’s future transportation needs based on the planned future land uses, development areas, housing, parks and trail systems. The City’s transportation network is comprised of several systems including roadways, transit services, trails, railroads and aviation that all work together to move people and goods throughout, and within, the City. This Chapter identifies the existing and proposed transportation system, examines potential deficiencies, and sets investment priorities. The following Chapter plans for an integrated transportation system that addresses each of the following topics in separate sections: • Roadway System 7-1 • Transit Facilities • Bikway & Trail System • Freight & Rail • Aviation The last section of this Chapter provides a summary and implementation section which addresses each of the components of the system, if any additional action within this planning period is expected. The Implementation Plan sets the groundwork for investment and improvements to the transportation network consistent with the goals, analyses, and conclusions of this Plan. As discussed in preceding Chapters of this Comprehensive Plan, the Transportation Chapter is intended to be dynamic and responsive to the City’s planned land uses and development patterns. As the City’s conditions change and improvements occur, this Chapter should be reviewed for consistency with the Plan to ensure that the transportation systems support the City’s ultimate vision for the community through this planning period. -
