‘LAST VERMONT CHRISTMAS’ Synopsis

Widowed mom Megan (Erin Cahill) and her sisters Bethany (Rachel Rhodes-Devey) and Audrey (Catherine Corcoran) return to their parents’ house in Vermont for the holidays. Soon after Megan arrives home, she runs into her high school boyfriend, Nash (Justin Bruening) and feels an old familiar spark. Later, Audrey confesses to Megan that she has been living at home for the past few months, having dropped out of music school in Nashville. She hesitates to tell Bethany, though, fearful of disappointing her responsible older sister.

Megan’s parents tell their daughters that they are retiring and selling the house. While Megan and Bethany are supportive, Audrey is not. Megan is shocked, however, when the buyers who put an offer on the house turn out to be Nash and his business partner, who plan to use the house as an investment property. Audrey sets out on a mission to disrupt the purchase, and enlists her neighbor Brandon (Alan Pontes) to help sabotage the home inspection.

As the home buying process goes on, Megan and her family try to make their last Christmas in the house the best one ever, checking off their favorite Christmas traditions. Nash, who stops by to oversee the (disastrous) home inspection, stays to decorate cookies and sing Christmas carols, and later joins the family in finding a Christmas tree. He begins to have doubts about purchasing the home, knowing how much it means to Megan.

Megan and Nash reconnect over Christmas activities and home repairs, and even Megan’s family notices how happy she is around him. Megan, however, does not feel ready to move on after the sudden passing of her husband just a few years ago. The more time she spends with Nash, however, the more undeniable their chemistry becomes. Meanwhile, Bethany is hurt when she discovers that Audrey had been lying to her about still being in college. Audrey turns to Brandon for support, and he comforts her when she is down.

When Nash confesses his feelings toward Megan and tries to convince her to stay, she sadly insists that she isn’t ready for a relationship. Even after Megan breaks his heart, Nash backs out of the deal to buy the house, not feeling right about it. His business partner is disappointed but encourages him to fight for Megan since she means so much to him.

Despite turning Nash down, Megan begins to wonder if moving back home might be right for her and her daughter. Audrey and Bethany mend their hurt feelings and Bethany shares some exciting news with Audrey before surprising the rest of the family. After receiving some encouragement from her mom, Megan must decide if her trip home for the holidays may be more permanent than she originally thought, and if she’s ready to open her heart to Nash.
