The system to be provided shall consistSpecification of two-way portable radios, and a compatible single frequency desk top repeater station with antenna which shall be installed at the Engineers Office or Laboratory Building as designated by the Engineer. The Contractorhas shall obtain been all necessary FCC licenses, permits, and copies of FCC regulations required for the operationDisapproved of the equipment furnished. MATERIALS at the request of All electronic circuitry of the equipment described herein shall be completely solid-state. All transmit/receive units shall be FCC type accepted and conformRegion to current EIA 10 Standards. A. Two Way Radio Repeater Station The Contractor shall furnish and install a desk top Repeater Station with service handset for transmitting and receiving. This station shall operateuse from a 10637.2101nominal 120 volts AC, 60 Hz power source. All necessary interconnecting and power cables shall be furnished. The repeater station shall provide one channel (T/R) in the 450-470 MHz range. Coded squelch shall be provided. The repeater shall include an internal duplexer to permit the use of a single antenna. All input and output connections, including AC power, control functions and antenna shall be located on the unit so that installation connections can be made without removing the cover. The channel provided for use of the Engineer shall not be used by the Contractor or his employees for any purpose other than to contact the Engineer. A.1 Transmitter RF Power Output: 15-30 watts Modulation: ± 5 kHz for 100% at 1 kHz Spurious and Harmonic Emissions: 70 db below carrier Frequency Stability: ± .0005% of assigned center frequency from -30° C to 60° C FM Noise: down - 55 db Audio Response: within +1 to - 3db over 300 to 3000 Hz with 6 db/octave pre-emphasis at less than 3% distortion A.2 Receiver Sensitivity: .40 microvolts for 20 db quieting. Squelch Sensitivity: 0.2 microvolts Selectivity: -70 db EIA for two signals on 30 kHz channel spacing. Frequency Stability: ±0.0005% from -30° C to 60° C temperature range with 25° C reference Modulation Acceptance: ±7.0 kHz Audio Output: 3 watts with less than 5% distortion over 300 to 3000 Hz Intermodulation: down -80 db The Contractor shall submit catalog cuts to the Engineer for approval at least one week prior to the expected date of installation. The antenna shall radiate this energy with a gain of 8.25 db in an onmi- directionalSpecification pattern. The antenna shall be equipped with a 6 meter mast. The Repeater Station Antenna shall be mountedhas with abeen heavy duty galvanized steel wall mount set in the exact location and in a manner approved by the Engineer. The antenna and its 6 meter mast shall be adequately grounded for lightning protection accordingDisapproved to N.E.C. standards. The transmission cable shall be 13 mmat coaxial the cable request with corrugated copperof outer and copper clad aluminum inner conductors, and foam dielectric and vinyl sheath. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary connectors, adaptors and installation hardware. The ContractorRegion shall submit 10 catalog cuts or descriptions to the Engineer for approval at least one week prior to the expected date of installation. C. Two-Way Portable Radio The Contractor shall provide hand-helduse two-way 10637.2101 portable radios with programmable frequency in the 450 to 470 MHz range. Units shall have power output of 4/1 watt (switchable), and 2 Channel capability, with open squelch. The transmitter and receiver parameters shall be the same as those of the repeater station. Power supply shall be by removable rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium battery pack. Each radio shall have volume and squelch controls, antenna connector, audio jack, channel and power output selector switches, and battery status indicator. Included with each unit shall be the removable battery pack, flexible antenna, speaker microphone with lapel clip, radio holder with belt clip, and standard rate desktop charger. The charger shall be capable of charging the battery two ways: separately or in the radio. The Contractor shall submit catalog cuts to the Engineer for approval at least one week in advance of the date that the radios will be required. CONSTRUCTION DETAILS The two-way radios and repeater station shall be for the exclusive use of the Engineer and his authorized representatives. The two-way radios and repeater station shall be made available within 30 calendar days upon notice from the Engineer. All equipment shall be fully maintained by the Contractor at all times. At any time that any of the radio units or miscellaneous hardware become inoperative, the Contractor shall immediately replace that unit with one in operational order. As soon as the radio equipment is installed, the Contractor shall supply qualified instruction to State personnel or their authorized representatives to insure the proper operation of the two-way radio communication system. He shall also acquire all necessary FCC licenses. Monthly measurement will continue until the Engineer notifies the Contractor in writing that the equipment is no longer needed. Measurements will be made during periods of seasonal shutdown of contractSpecification operations provided the equipm ent remains in operating condition. No measurement will be made for service during periods of contract extension of time where engineering charges are assessed. has been Two-way UHF Portable Radios - The quantityDisapproved to be measured for payment under this item will be the number of unit months that the portable radio units are operable. A unit month is defined as one month during which one unit is operable. at the request of BASIS OF PAYMENT Region 10 The unit price bid shall include the cost of all labor, material and equipment including instruction and licensing fees, electric power, maintenance charges and any incidental hardware necessary to complete the work. Payment will be made during periodsuse of seasonal 10637.2101 shut down of contract operations provided the unit remains in operating condition. No payment will be made for service during periods of contract extensions of time where engineering charges are assessed. A one-day deduction will be made for each day during an estimate period that each portable unit and/or repeater station is not available or fully operable as determined by the Engineer. The daily deduction shall be figured by dividing the monthly rate by thirty (30) days. All equipment shall remain the property of the Contractor.
