UKS19980308 Duck Mill Div4-5 VIKING KAY AK CLUB Duck-Mill Weir Division 4/5 Slalom March 7th/8th 1998 Results Welcome to the 1998 season. I am sure that I speak for most of us involved in the organisation in being so disappointed at the low turnout on both days, but all of you who did turn up had a go in the true spirit of Slalom, and we hope that you enjoyed your visit to Bedford. We all owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those willing(?} volunteers who gave up a days holiday on Friday to put the course up for the first race, and to all those bodies mostly, but not all, Viking members who made the changes for the second race. I cannot list them all here because I do not have enough paper but to them all, and to all the Paddling and non-Paddling Judges, Starters, Finishers and Control staff, THANK YOU. I would particularly like to thank Nigel Winters and Richard Menhinick for their Jury work. Thanks are also due to Sue Banfield and her teams for keeping us all fed and watered throughout the weekend, to Mike Stott and to Jim Croft for the loan of the van, and the Tanney and Computer equipment respectively, and to Nigel, the Mikes, and Gary Denton, and anyone else who helped with rescue. I hope you all felt re-assured by their presence. Finally, thanks to you the paddlers for coming along and taking part. Congratulations to those of you who earned promotion on taking a step up the ladder of British Canoe Slalom ( a certain Richard Fox took part in his first formal Canoe Slalom here in the '701s} ,,----. and to the rest of you, I hope you will persevere in Canoe Slalom and gain some of the sense of achievement at mastering the elements that so many of us have gained over the years, and that ALL of you will strive to make British Slalom Great again.     £6 2018 Canoe Sprint & Marathon Handbook NEW for 2018 - Racing Coach Award At the start of 2014, the British Canoeing Coaching Strategy Group initiated a review of our qualifications. This resulted in proposals to revise the structure, with a phased approach to the development (and implementation) of the various components. The first phase focused on the Club Activity Assistant, piloted at the start of 2016. This was followed by developments within the Leadership strand, including a new Paddlesport Leader Award, rebranding of the 4 and 5 Star awards, and the introduction of a Guide scheme; all launched April 2017. This next phase focuses on the development of the qualifications previously pitched at UKCC Level 2. The development is, in the main, focused on a restructuring and creating discipline specific pathways available across all disciplines. This will significantly change the prerequisites and the pathway through taught and assessed elements. Direct entry to the Racing Coach Award, removal of the portfolio and specific deliverers. The ‘Coach Awards’ will supersede the current Level 2, Moderate/Advanced Water Endorsements, and Discipline Support Modules. The qualifications are designed for people whose core function is to coach paddlers who want to gain/improve paddlesport skills within the discipline chosen. This will include coaching beginners new to the sport, or paddlers looking to develop their skills in the given discipline/environment. Bring your swimming costume for some optional wild swimming and rope swings. After several hours of paddling, practicing different skills, you will arrive at a secluded riverside woodland to enjoy a night wild camping under the stars. You will literally paddle into the site then make camp in shared teepees and tents or bring your own tent or hammock. As a group we’ll cook a free­range woodland feast over the camp fire, learning some top tips for preparing bush tucker. Then it’s time to relax around the fire and toast marshmallows. The second day will start with a campfire breakfast and some adventure challenges in the woodland and river. Late morning you will return to your canoe or SUP and continue the journey downstream through leafy riverside villages before finishing at a riverside pub.

Minutes of the 14th Annual Consultative Meeting, 25th November 2017 1 Welcome by the Chair 1.1 Welcome and Appointment of Tellers The Chair thanked British Canoeing for the use of the premises. He then welcomed 39 people, to the meeting; between them, holding 72 votes, representing 30 Clubs. Apologies were received from Anna Gray: British Canoeing, Michelle Grudzinski: Managed Calendar Officer, John Stoner: Breakout CC, Steve Briggs Matlock CC and Steve Linksted: Co-ordinator. Peter Curry and David Lindesay were appointed tellers for the meeting. 1.2 Points of Order and Clarifications The secretary highlighted some typographic errors in the Agenda and apologised for the errors. These were not felt to affect the spirit of the motions. It was confirmed that when voting, only a Simple Majority is needed, except for changes to Regulations where 2/3 Simple Majority required. Some club representatives had not brought proof of National Federation membership with them. The Secretary believes they are members and the meeting approved them exercising their club votes. The order of business for the general discussion was amended so that the guest speaker does not have to stay to the end. A method of voting for motion 6.15 was proposed and accepted.
