Le qualiIcazioni sono state anticipate a venerdì. In campo femminile spicca il duo giapponese Reira IwabuChi e Miyabi Onitsuka, rispettivamente prima e seconda l’anno scorso nel capoluogo di provincia emiliano con Iwabuchi che ha vinto la coppa di specialità del big air e Onitsuka quella per lo slopestyle. Attenzione però anche alla terza nipponica Kokomo Murase, classe 2004 e iridata junior sia di slopestyle sia di big air nel 2018 a Cardrona, in Nuova Zelanda. Ma cisaranno anche la canadese argento olimpico nello slopestyle a PyeongChang 2018 Laurie Blouin, la statunitense e la norvegese Julia Marino e la norvegese Silje Norendal ma soprattutto l’austriaca Anna Gasser, oro olimpico nel big air l’anno scorso in Corea del Sud. Tra gli uomini ci sarà lo statunitense Chris Corning, vincitore del big air di apertura di Coppa del Mondo di questa stagione a Cardrona, quando ha eseguito il quadruplo cork 1800, l’anno scorso a Modena è stato battuto dal giapponese Takeru Otsuka, che quest’anno non sarà presente a causa di un infortunio, in compenso sarà sul trampolino il canadese Mark McMorris, due volte argento mondiale e due volte bronzo olimpico sempre nello slopestyle, che torna a gareggiare nella Coppa del Mondo FIS a quasi due anni dalla sua terza e ultima vittoria nella manifestazione in un big air a PeChino. ci saranno altri fuoriclasse del park&pipe della tavola sulla neve come lo svedese Sven Thorgren, il norvegese Staale SandbeCh, il Inlandese Rene Rennekangas, l’austriaco Clemens Millauer e il giapponese Hiraoke Kunitake. L’Italia sarà rappresentata solo nella gara maschile con quattro atleti ma sarà penalizzata da un’assenza importante. Mancherà infatti Alberto Maffei, decimo l’anno scorso, settimo nel 2017 quando la gara italiana si disputava ancora nella zona EXPO 2015 di Milano, e nono sempre nel 2017 a MoenChengladbaCh, il 24enne di Pinzolo si è rotto il crociato del ginocchio e non sarà presente sabato. Ci saranno invece Loris Framarin, Emiliano Lauzi, NiCola Liviero ed Emil Zulian, nessuno dei quali era presente nelle gare di apertura stagionale due mesi fa a Cardrona. Modena, 8 ottobre 2019 FIS Freeski e FIS Snowboard si stanno preparando per le prime gare nell’emisfero settentrionale della World Cup 2019/20 e gli spettacoli del Big Air sono pronti a spiccare il volo ancora una volta il 2 e 3 novembre sulla città di Modena, durante la 26esima edizione di Skipass, il Salone del Turismo e degli Sport Invernali. L’anno scorso sia il FIS Freeski che il FIS Snowboard hanno avuto luogo a Modena per la prima volta, in occasione del 25° anniversario di Skipass. La manifestazione, che si è affermata come la più importante del settore neve in Italia, ha ospitato una straordinaria reunion dei migliori atleti di freeski e snowboard da tutto il mondo che hanno tenuto il pubblico senza fiato sulla gigantesca rampa di Modena. Per questa stagione le qualifiche e le finali della gara di Snowboard sono programmate per sabato 2 novembre, mentre la gara di Freeski è prevista per domenica 3 novembre. Entrambe le gare prevedono le qualifiche al mattino seguite dalle finali serali sotto i riflettori di ModenaFiere. I'm thrilled to see how well Team Canada has done!” These medals are part of Team Canada's overall success at the Games. Canada earned its best- ever Olympic medal count with 29 medals, placing third overall. Among Team Canada’s 225 competitors were 63 athletes with a B.C. connection. These included athletes who call B.C. home, as well as those from outside of B.C. who train in the province with the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific or viaSport Regional Alliance partners. Team Canada's total medal count was 11 gold, eight silver and 10 bronze. Of those, provincially affiliated athletes earned 38% of the Canadian Olympic Team’s total medal count: six gold, three silver, two bronze. Det gick inte hela vägen och Sven slutade istället på femteplats. Kvällens vinnare Mark McMorris gick i och med segern om Shaun White som den mest framgångsrika snowboardåkaren i Vinter X Games historia med 19 medaljer. Trots att hoppet var något litet i kvällens Big Air-final satsade åkarna ändå på sina allra värsta trick. Sven Thorgren startade riktigt bra med en backside 1440 som tog honom upp till första plats. I jam session-bedömningssystemet förändras dock ställningen kontinuerligt under tävlingen. I omgång två och tre tappade han placeringar då han försökte sig på en frontside trippel, som tillslut satt i fjärde omgången. Sven hade sedan chans att ta sig upp på pallen i femte och sista omgången där allt skulle avgöras. Väl där gick han för en backside trippel rodeo, som han sedan beslöt sig för att öppna upp till en dubbel. I och med det stannade han på en femteplats. - Jag är extremt nöjd med min frontside trippel, och att jag vågade göra den. Det var en isig kick och ett ganska litet hopp, men jag fick ner den extremt bra och blev riktigt peppad. Jag hade ju gett det några åk så jag hade bara ett kvar efter det. Jag har aldrig förr gått för en trippel rodeo på ett så här litet hopp, och när jag var i luften kände jag att det var säkrare att öppna upp.
