I got this idea because at my dad's we use tv tray-type things a lot so I wanted to make something that looked nicer than what we have and that they would use. So I started looking at different end tables on the internet and wasn’t having much luck until I searched for easy ways to build an end table. I found one that I liked on instructables.com and I started looking through it to see what things were needed. The materials I used were as follows: safety , crowbar, hammer, measuring tape, table , Dewalt hand , 60 grit sandpaper, , Dewalt gun, ¼ inch nails, can of polyurethane the brand of that was called Minwax,2in. paintbrushes, ¾ inch , some stain I chose the color jacobean and the brand was Minwax, glue I used the brand Titebond, an old t-shirt, and a scrap pallet. The first thing I had to do was find a pallet to use for its scrap wood. We had one at home in the backyard. Next I had to take the pallet apart with the hammer and crowbar. Third I had to cut the boards to size. The height, length and width of four legs are 26”x 3”x ¾”. The height, length and width of the other four legs are 26”x 3 ½”x ¾” because there had to be something to attach the other four legs to. The height, length and width of the eight boards on top and bottom are 18”x 4 ¼”x ¾”. The height, length and width of the middle board on top is 18”x 1 ¼”x ¾”, and the bottom middle board is 18”x ⅞”x ¾”. Then I had to them with a dewalt hand sander with a 60 grit sandpaper to make them smooth and so it would absorb the stain better. Then I put it together with some and a dewalt nail gun that had ¼ inch long nails in it. We then cut a dowel down to 1 ½ inch and I drilled a hole so the would fit then I put wood glue on it and stuck it in the hole. Then I stained it and wiped it with an old shirt. Then I waited for it to dry. When it was dry I did a coat of polyurethane. The reason I wanted to build this was because I wanted my dad to use it. I wanted it to go in my living room so people could see it. I've learned a lot in the process of making this one is that sanding takes a very long time. Second, I've learned that the harder you work, the better it's going to look. Third, it takes time to build things like this; it's not just going to be done in a couple of days.
