Jakarta HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 1ST ONE-BELT-ONE-ROAD INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE CITY EXHIBITION AND CITY DIALOGUE

The 1st “One-Belt-One-Road Inclusive and Sustainable City Exhibition and Dialogue” (OBOR event), successfully organized by UNIDO’s South-South and Triangular Industrial Cooperation (SSTIC) and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FC-SSC), linked the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs 9, 11 and 13, in particular) with the One-Belt-One-Road (OBOR) initiative and encouraged all UN Maritime and Continental (MCSR) partner agencies (i.e. UNOSSC, UNDP, UNWTO, UNESCO and UNIDO) to work together at the headquarters level towards a common goal, namely implementing the 2030 Agenda in tandem with the OBOR initiative and achieving inclusive and sustainable urban-industrial development.

More than 450 participants took part in over 27 events held during the week (17 to 21 October 2016), with approximately 50 cities from 25 countries represented. Nearly 100 private-sector representatives from companies both here in Austria and worldwide and a full roster of over 60 keynote speakers, moderators and panellists enlivened the forum’s discussions.
