Faculty of Arts Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) ORDINANCES & RULES / REGULATIONS For Regular Candidate i. The course leading to the Bachelor of Arts Degree shall extend over three year’s and comprise Physical Education, Rastra Gaurav, Environmental Science, Core Course and Applied Courses as prescribed under ordinances 3 and 4 following. ii. For eligibility to enter upon the B.A. Course a candidate must have passed the :- (i) Intermediate examination of the Madhyamic Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh or any Indian University duly incorporated by any Law enforce for the time being or (ii) Any other examination recogniosed by the University as equivalent there to. 3. (a) Physical Education shall be studied in the B.A. (Part – I) First year only. The candidate shall be required to obtain 35% marks. If the candidate failed in such examination, may be provisionally permitted to appear at the next higher examination concerned B.A. (Part – II). PAGE 2 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . (b) Rastra Gaurav shall be studied in the B.A. (Part – II) Second year only. The candidate shall be required to obtain 35% marks. If the candidate failed in such examination, may be provisionally permitted to appear at the next higher examination concerned B.A. (Part – III). (c) Environmental Studies shall be studied in the B.A. (Part – III) Third year only. The candidate shall be required to obtain 35% marks. If the candidate failed in such examination, may be provisionally permitted to appear at the next higher examination concerned (d) If any, for B.A. Degree subject to the condition that the result of this B.A. (Part – III) examination shall not be declared until he/she also passed in the Physical Education, Rastra Gaurav, Environmental Studies paper. (e) A candidate shall be required to offer any one subject out of the subjects / group given under as his core course: 1. General English. 2. Hindi Language. 3. General Sanskrit. PAGE 3 DR. Hindi Literature 3. Functional English 4. Functional Hindi 5. History 6. D.S.S.T. (Military Studies) 7. Economics 8. Education 9. General English 10. General Sanskrit 11. Geography 12. Hindi Language 13. Home Science 14. Mathematics 15. Philosophy 16. Political Science 17. Psychology 18. Sanskrit 19. Sociology 20. Statistics 21. Urdu 22. Agricultural Marketing 23. Comm. (g) A regular candidate may also offer Mathematics (If Sociology is not offered by him) and Statistics (If Music is not offered by him) as core subject provided required facilities are available in the college concerned. (h) A regular candidate may also offer Drawing & Painting (If Geography is not offered by him) and Indian Music (If Statistics is not offered by him) as core subject provided required facilities are available in the college concerned. A Student offering Indian Music shall have the option to offer either – (a). Tabla, (b). Sitra, (c). Vocal Music. (i) A regular candidate of B.V.R.I. shall offer any three of the following core course : - (i) English Literature. (ii) Hindi Literature. (iii) Economics. (iv) Sociology. (v) Political Science. (vi) Co-operation. (vii) Village Industries. (viii) Community Development & Extension. (ix) Agricultural Marketing. (x) Fisheries. (xi) Horticulture. PAGE 5 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . (xii) Rural Banking. (xiii) Functional English. (xiv) Functional Hindi. (xv) Office Management & Secretarial Practice (i) A regular candidate shall not be permitted to offer more than two literature or more than two subjects involving practical work or more than one subject from the above group as his core subjects. (j) Every candidate for B.A. Degree shall further be required of offer, an additional compulsory course in a Language (either Hindi Language or General English or General Sanskrit). 4 (a) The examination for the degree of Bachelor of Arts shall consist of three parts: (i) B.A. (Part – I) at the end of the first year. (ii) B.A. (Part – II) at the end of the second year. (iii) B.A. (Part – III) at the end of the third year. (b) The examinations shall be conducted by means of written papers and will include practicals as the case may be. 5 A candidate who has been admitted to B.A. (Part – I) course and has attended in any affiliated colleges for one academic year the regular course of study as prescribed for B.A. (Part – I) examination PAGE 6 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . of the University, under these Ordinances, may be permitted, if otherwise eligible, to appear at the B.A. (Part – I) examination. 6 (a). A candidate who, having passed the B.A. (Part – I) examination of the University, under these ordinances, has attended in an affiliated college for one academic year the regular course of study as prescribed for the B.A. (Part – II) examination of the University under these ordinances may be permitted, if otherwise eligible to appear at the B.A. (Part – II) examination. (b). A candidate who, having passed the B.A. (Part – I) examination after 10+2, of any other University duly incorporated by any law in force for the tome being, may also be permitted, if otherwise eligible, to appear at B.A. (Part – II) examination of the University, provided that:- (i) he/she offered at the above mentioned B.A. (Part – I) examination of such University a course of an equivalent standard with almost such syllabi as is prescribed for B.A. (Part – I) examination of the University under these ordinance. (ii) has attended in an affiliated college for one academic year the regular course of study prescribed for B.A. (Part – II) examination of the University under these ordinances. (c). A candidate who has passed the B.A. (Part – I) examination and has attended in an affiliated college for one academic year the regular PAGE 7 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . course of study prescribed for B.A. (Part – II) examination of the university under these ordinances together with the regular course prescribed for B.A. (Part – I) under these Ordinance, may also be permitted to appear at the B.A. (Part – II) examination. 7 (a) A candidate who having passed the B.A. (Part – II) examination of the University, under these ordinances has attended in an affiliated college for one academic year the regular course of study as prescribed for B.A. (Part – III) examination of the university under these ordinances may be permitted to appear at the B.A. (Part – III) examination. (b). A candidate who has passed the B.A. (Part – II) examination after 10+2 of any other university duly incorporated by any law in force for the time being may also be permitted, , if otherwise eligible, to appear at B.A. (Part – III) examination of the University, provided that:- (i) he/she offered at the above mentioned B.A. (Part – II) examination of such University a course of an equivalent standard with almost such syllabi as is prescribed for B.A. (Part – II) examination of the University under these ordinance. (ii) has attended in an affiliated college for one academic year the regular course of study prescribed for B.A. (Part – III) examination of the University under these ordinances. PAGE 8 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . 8 For a pass in B.A. Examination a candidate shall be required to secure the minimum of 35% marks (i) in aggregate together with core course (ii) in the compulsory Language course (Hindi Language or General English or General Sanskrit) and (iii) a minimum of 35% marks in Physical Education, Rastra Gaurav, Environmental Science. Provided that where a course includes practical, the candidate concerned shall be required to secure at least 35% marks in theory and practical separately. 9 Provided that in respect of the students who have completed and passed all the three years of the B.A. Programme in the aforesaid manner, the division shall be declared on the basis of the total marks scored in all the three years as follows: a) First Division, where student secures 60% or above. b) Second Division where student secures 45% or above but less than 60% marks. c) Third Division where student secures less than 45% marks. 10 A candidate who has been declared successful at the B.A. Part – I, II and III examination in accordance with ordinance – 06, 07, 08 and 09 here in above shall be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts. 11 In B.A. (First Year), in subject of Hindi Language, the second question paper should be on OMR sheet paper pattern with 50 Max. Marks. PAGE 9 DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA . 12 In B.A. (First, Second & Third Year), in subject of Sociology, the First question paper should be on OMR sheet paper pattern with 50 Max. Marks. 13 In B.A. (First Year), in subject of General English, the First question paper should be on OMR sheet paper pattern with 50 Max. Marks. For Private Candidates 11. Provisions of Ordinances 1 to 10 herein above shall apply mutatis mutandis to the private candidates also subject to the following:- (a) Private Candidates shall not be required to attend any regular course in any affiliated college.
