The list of participants who attended the meeting is attached at Annexure - I. 2 Initiauves ofthe State Ms. Rina Ray, Secretary [SE&L) invited Tamil Nadu to give a presentation on school education in the State. Shri Pradeep Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary (Tamil Nadu), gave a presentation which included the following major points: a) State has started a new initiative-"Helpline number 14417" to redress every child's query. Students can get career guidance, counselling and psychological support through this helpline. bJ The State education department has created an electronic workplace with the help of social media (facebook) where 30000+ teachers have been registered and share their ideas and interact with state officials and other teachers. c) The State has launched the "EMIS for school" App for centralized platform for real time data processing and monitoring ofall schools, students and teachers by the state. Under this, state will provide smart card to all the students in2019-20. d) State has provided Laptops to children of Class 12 to equip them for higher studies. Remaining 210 Additional Classrooms are to be taken. 4 Review of Performance during 2018-19 State has secured a score of774 in Performance Grading lndex [PGI] and was placed in Grade II (actually Category VI as no States are in the levels of 850 and above which form the first three levels). State was requested to analyse NAS results and provide interventions to improve learning outcomes ofthe students. b) Access Outcomes (C-1, D-2): The State has achieved maximum grade in Transition but L000/o transition has not been achieved. State was requested to take steps to ensure 100o/o transition rate. c) Inftasrudure & Facilities (C-1, D-3): State needs to focus on provision of Computer Aided Learning (CAL) facilities in Upper Primary Schools, Lab facilities in Secondary Schools and providing free Uniform to students at Elementary level within three months since the commencement of academic years introducing Vocational Education subiects in Class 9 and Class 10. 3 State was advised to set-up CAL facilities and Science Lab facilities in upper- primary and secondary schools respectively and ensure timely delivery of text books before the start of academic session. d) Equity Outcomes (C-1, D-2): State needs to focus on Constructing ramp, functional CWSN fi:iendly toilets in schools and bringing CWSN in the education system (improving GER w.r.t. Appraisal issues a) The Transition rate from primary to upper primary, upper primary to secondary and secondary to higher secondary has decrease from 98.590/0, 96.7 8o/o,83.2 70lo respectively in 2076-77 to 90.680/0,89.260/o and 79.380/o respectively in 2017-18 which is an area of concern.
