On Thursday, June 15th everyone including staff and residents are invited to cowboy up and wear your favorite western wear to kick-off the Reno Rodeo. Put on your hat and pull on your boots!

On that same day we will be going to town to watch as the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive makes its way to the fairgrounds after driving cattle through the high desert for 5 straight days. Be sure to sign up at the concierge desk for the June 15th outing at 11:00am!

If you want to go to the Rodeo, we will headin’ out for some grub and the show at 4:30pm on Tuesday, June 20th. Again make sure you are signed up on the bus sign-ups and let Terri in the Life Enrichment office know that you are going to need a ticket. Tickets are around $8 in advance.

Salvation Army Apple Tree The Salvation Army is committed to providing low-income students with necessary school supplies but they need our help. Last year they were able to provide supplies for 750 students! Beginning June 27th we will have the Apple Tree and the collection barrel in the hall of the Living Room South and you have until July 21st to pick an apple off the tree, purchase the item(s) and return them to the collection barrel.

Railroad Garden Tour A nurse that used to work at Cascades has this fabulous railroad garden and every year she shares it with all of us! In addition, her yard is featured on the cover of June, 2017 Garden Railways Magazine. She opens her home for her remarkable miniature railroad and garden tour. This is always the most popular outing we do every summer and this year we are offering two times to choose from. On Saturday, June 17th, you can catch our shuttle bus at 8:30am or 11:30am (We’ll stop at Steak & Shake for lunch on the way home from this one) – sign up for the bus at the concierge desk as usual.

Parkinson’s Walk 2017 Join us for a beautiful walk around Virginia Lake for the Annual Parkinson’s Walk on Saturday, June 10th. We leave Cascades at 8:30am. After checking in with registration you can walk at your own pace and there are lots and lots of benches to rest on. Our bus will drive around and around the lake collecting our residents when they are ready to call it quits. Please join us!

AARP Smart Driver Course Offered at Cascades This popular course takes 4 hours to complete and when you are done, many insurance compa- nies will give you up to a 10% discount on you insurance! This class will be held on Tuesday, June 13th in the Great Room from 1:00pm-5:00pm. If you want to attend, please call 1-877-846- 3299 to enroll. You will not be allowed to drop in on the class. The very nominal charge for the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The class is open to anyone 55 and older. Take our Three-Month Triathlon Need to Get Your Hands Dirty?
