OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE WAFL $3.00 WAFL Preliminary Final 27 September 2020 What more could Claremont Football Club want from a Sunday? Colts directly into the Grand Final. Tick. Reserves defy South Fremantle in an epic Elimination. Tick. The League side produces its finest performance of the season to book a Grand Final spot. Tick. It was the perfect day for a football club that is well and truly rolling in September and by the looks of things will be hard to stop. Despite finishing second on the ladder to hosts South Fremantle, the Tigers found an extra gear in the second semi-final to defeat the minor premiers by 47 points. Claremont captain Kane Mitchell couldn’t have dreamt of a better start to the Optus WAFL Finals Series. “It was a massive day for the club,” Mitchell said. “To start the way we did with the Colts and play some outstanding football. The Reserves have come from 1-3 to make the Prelim. “For us to play the way we did in the League was sensational. It was all off the back of pressure and defence – that’s how we have always wanted to play.” As the final siren went and the Claremont crowd gathered to meet WAFL Finals admission prices This publication is proudly produced by the WA Football DID YOU KNOW? $20 – Adult* Commission. $15 – Concession* Photography // Gary Day & Michael Farnell You can subscribe to the Football Budget Free – Children 15 and under Design // Jacqueline Holland, Direction Design and Print Simply call 0419 930 763 or email *Includes a copy of Football Budget Printing // Data Documents www.datadocuments.com.au [email protected] The Football Budget is printed on Gloss 90gsm paper, which is sourced from a sustainably managed forest and uses manufacturing processes of the highest environmental standards. We played really, really well and to enjoy that moment because that is why we play footy. “We know we still have a job to do but it was a nice moment.” Today’s Preliminary Final will decide the Tigers’ opponent with South Fremantle hosting West Perth in a do-or-die final. The Bulldogs have been the team to beat all season. Seven wins from eight starts has proven their premiership credentials but standing in their way of a dream decider is a dogged Falcons outfit. Returning players will boost the line-up and give the home team the best possible chance of returning the following week. West Perth overcame Perth by 11 points in one of the games of the season to secure a spot in the Preliminary Final. The Falcons leaders stood up again in the pivotal moments to secure a memorable victory, with the likes of Aaron Black, Luke Meadows and Tyler Keitel delivering on the big stage. The only previous clash between the Falcons and Bulldogs this season saw the latter victorious by just eight points in a tight tussle, giving both sides plenty of confidence heading into today’s final. Coincidentally, all three remaining League coaches played in a West Perth premiership together, adding just another layer to an intriguing season. Whatever the result on Sunday, the final two weeks of the Optus WAFL Season will reach an exciting climax. Three quality teams are all vying for a premiership no one will ever forget in season 2020. 2 3 WAFL MATCH PREVIEWS brought to you by waflfootyfacts.net LEAGUE PRELIMINARY FINAL Fremantle Community Bank Oval - 27 September @ 3.35pm #SFvWP 1st 7-2 144.18% Tip - West Perth by 3 3rd 7-2 128.96% W95, W8, W8, W80, W20, W35, W22, W11, L8,W92, W32, W7, W4, L31, Form Guide L5, L47 W19, W11 Key Facts: 1.
