  • What's Open Now in Cairo (Pdf)
Categories: News (../advanced-search/?category=news), Destinations (../advanced- search/?category=destinations) What’s Open Now in Cairo Egypt is open to US travelers and its capital, Cairo awaits with freshly re-opened luxury hotels, museums and awe-inspiring monuments Oct 02 2020 by Gretchen Kelly Ed Note: As international travel begins to recover, Business Traveler USA is exploring opportunities now available to US travelers in Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and beyond, with Kenn Laya, CEO of Vuitton Travel, (https://vuittontravel.com) a bespoke travel concierge service. In the third installment (https://www.businesstravelerusa.com/business-traveler- usa-story/talking-turkey-cappadocia-and-beyond)of this four-part series, Kenn guided us through regions of Turkey beyond. Today’s adventure takes us to Egypt, which is open for tourism from the US. Kenn outlines what it takes to get there, and shares the best of what’s open in Cairo to put on your must-do list. BT: What is the safest, fastest way for Americans to travel to Egypt now? / Laya: I would recommend Egypt Air, (https://www.egyptair.com) a Star Alliance member, it is the most direct service with ights from Washington, New York and Toronto. As COVID-19 recovery expands that network of ights may increase. To y Egypt Air, you must have a COVID-19 negative test 48 hours ahead of time and wear a mask on board. The airline is taking steps to socially distance ights. They are not selling capacity ights at the moment. The New York to Cairo route features the Dreamliner. Once you get to Cairo there will be a health check for foreign nationals.

  • Alexandria, a Place I Remember
AAHA = Amicale Alexandrie Hier et Aujourd'hui George PSAROS Return to Alexandria (17-28 November 2004) “The best way of seeing it is to wander aimlessly about” - E.M.Forster Cahier no 47 October 2005 Sandro Manzoni, chemin de Planta 31, 1223 Cologny, Suisse Return to Alexandria (17-28 November 2004) Cahier AAHA no 47 I left Alex in 1952 to attend university in England. Now I was returning with my wife Annette who had been listening to me, my relatives, and assorted Old Victorians wailing about La Belle Époque in Alex for nearly forty years. Annette is very patient and very polite. Our departure from London was not straightforward. Having duly proceeded to the departure gate for our Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt we were informed 15 minutes before take-off that our plane was not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. The luggage had to be reclaimed and we queued for 3 hours to get rescheduled to Athens by BA next day. We befriended an anxious Mrs. Suliman who was also hoping to get to Alexandria some day. So our first night away from home was spent in London at one of the living machines they call hotels. Next morning we set off again and duly arrived at Athens airport where Mrs. Suliman insisted I call Delta Hotel on her mobile. Just as well, because Lufthansa had failed to notify anyone in Alex that we had missed the Frankfurt connecting flight because of the cancellation of their London flight. Our flights cost £ 640.25. We disembarked from our Egyptair jet at Nouzha and I felt immediately that this trip was going to be a success after all.

  • 2.5.2 Characteristics of Specific Land Use Categories (1) Commercial
THE STRATEGIC URBAN DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN STUDY FOR A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GREATER CAIRO REGION IN THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT Final Report (Volume 2) 2.5.2 Characteristics of Specific Land Use Categories (1) Commercial area Commercial areas in GCR can be classified into three basic types: (i) the CBD; (ii) the sub-center which includes the mixed use for commercial/business and residential use; and (iii) major shopping malls such the large size commercial facilities in relatively new urban areas. The CBD is located in downtown areas, where there are mixed-use buildings that were established long ago and partly accommodate shops and stores. The major sub-centers in the main agglomeration are Shobra, Abasia, Zamalek, Heliopolis, Nasr city, Maadi in Cairo governorate and Mohandeseen, Dokki, Giza in Giza governorate. The recent trend following the mid-1990’s can been seen in the construction of shopping malls which are commercial complexes comprising a movie theater, restaurants, retail shops, and sufficient parking space or a parking building attached. These suburban shopping malls are mainly located in Nasr city, Heliopolis city, Maadi, Shobra, and Giza. Source: JICA study team Figure 2.5.3 Location of Major Commercial Areas in main agglomeration (2) Industrial area The following map shows location of concentration of industrial areas in Study area. There are seven industrial areas in NUCs, five industrial areas under governorates, and two public free zones in the study area. The number of registered factories is 13,483 with a total area of 76,297 ha. Among those registered factories, 3 % of factories can be categorized as large-scale which have an investment cost of more than LE10 million, or more than 500 employees.
