Local Funders Grants available in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames A guide to local grants that are open for applications throughout the year from charities, voluntary and community organisations. Ongoing Funding Sources Richmond Parish Lands Charity Purpose: - The relief of poverty in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. - The relief of sickness and distress in the Borough. - The provision and support of leisure and recreational facilities - The provision of educational facilities and support for people in Richmond wishing to undertake courses. - Any other charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of Richmond. Grants are available to both organisations and individuals and cover two strands of Main Grants Programme (Sharon le Ronde) and Education Grants (Amy Vogel). RPLC also manage two linked charities. The Bailey and Bates Trust Purpose: - The relief of poverty within SW14 postcode. Its charitable objects are advancing education (including social and physical training) of persons who are under the age of 25 years who are in need of financial assistance. Grants are available to individuals and organisations. Barnes Relief in Need Purpose: - The relief of poverty in the former borough of Barnes prior to 1965 (which roughly corresponds with SW14 postcode). Available for children and young people, the elderly and people with disabilities and to individuals and organisations. Contact 020 8948 5701 http://www.rplc.org.uk Hampton Fuel Allotments Charity Purpose: Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity supports families and individuals on low income with a grant to help with the costs of gas and electricity and essential household items It also provides grants to the voluntary sector to provide services and activities for people in need. The area of benefit covers the following areas within Richmond upon Thames: Hampton, Hampton Hill, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham, and Whitton. Contact 020 8941 7866 http://www.hfac.co.uk Barnes Workhouse Fund Purpose: • The relief of the aged, impotent and poor • The relief of distress and sickness • The provision and support of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation (with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants in the interests of social welfare) • The provision and support of educational facilities The boundaries of the "Ancient Parish of Barnes" broadly correspond with the present postal area of London SW13. Up to £1k for individuals and informal groups . Closing dates vary so please sign up for their newsletter to keep up to date. They manage two Richmond specific grants: - Richmond Civic Trust offers grants to organisations who aim to improve the environment facilities and or physical character of LBRUT for the benefit of the community. - Rowan Bentall Charitable Trust supports projects rooted in the local area which are lead by local people and improve the quality of life for people living in RBK/LBRUT Website: www.londoncf.org.uk The Gannett Foundation The Gannett Foundation is the charitable arm of Newsquest who own the Richmond and Twickenham Times. The fund is open once a year and preference is given to ideas which create a durable legacy for the community. Online applications are much preferred. Trustees meet each January to view its finances and consider nominations. Four cottages in Oldfield Road Hampton available to ex-service men and their widows or the deserving poor who have resided in the area for more then three years. Grants are available for organisations and individuals. Examples of things which The Richmond Charities can fund include white goods, furniture, household items, help with utility costs, basic living expenses and special equipment.
