Those who enjoy getting acquainted with the world’s nooks and crannies – stopping in Germany’s Black Forest or getting a close-up of Russia’s cultural traditions – will be delighted by the intimate nature of river cruising. Port of Call: Amsterdam Many river cruise itineraries begin and/or end in this city of canals, bicycle lanes, and art (check out the renowned Rijksmuseum for works by Rembrandt and an unforgettable library). Travel’s taste YOUR LUXURY TRAVEL PARTNER IN ITALY www.italycreative.it Amalfi Coast Amalfi More about: things to know Coast www.italycreative.it Deemed by Unesco to be an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, the Amalfi Coast is a beguiling combination of great beauty and gripping drama: coastal mountains plunge into the sea in a stunning vertical scene of precipitous crags, picturesque towns and lush forests. Most hotels and villas are open from March/April through October/November. The towns on the water with beaches include Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Praiano, Positano, and Vietri sul Mare. Towns higher up on the cliffs include Agerola, Ravello, Scala, and Tramonti. Amalfi Coast is crossed by Strada Statale 163 Amalfitana (world-famous known as Amalfi Drive), a 50km (30 miles) stretch of road from north to south. If we take the two entrance points to the Amalfi Coast with Sorrento in the north and Salerno in the south, the road goes through the towns in this order: Positano | Praiano | Amalfi | Atrani | Minori | Maiori | Cetara | Vietri Sul Mare It's important to know the order as that would make exploring the towns a bit easier. The Sorrento to Salerno direction is more preferrable as, by being in the right lane, you are right next to the cliffs with no opposing traffic to block your view. There are no trains serving the Amalfi Coast. • Martin Creed to Unveil New Neon Work 'Work No. 3485 EVERYTHING IS
Press Release Martin Creed to unveil new neon work ‘Work No. 3485 EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT’ on the façade of the Gstaad Palace Gstaad Palace Palacestrasse 28, 3780 Gstaad 21 December 2020 – 7 March 2021 From the 21 December, a new neon work by acclaimed British artist Martin Creed, ‘Work No. 3485 EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT’, will light up the façade of the Gstaad Palace. The installation is organised by Hauser & Wirth and the Gstaad Palace in an ongoing collaboration, installing iconic artworks by artists from the gallery’s roster since 2019. This year’s special public display is made possible with the generous support of Alex Hank. Awarded the Turner Prize in 2001 for ‘Work 227: The lights going on and off’, Creed has become known for hugely varied work, which is by turns uncompromising, entertaining, shocking and beautiful. The work on view in Gstaad is one of Creed’s most well-known installations: the phrase ‘Everything is going to be alright’ has been used by the artist in a series of large-scale neon works since 1999, and has been installed across internationally renowned institutions and buildings, including the façade of the TATE in London, and most recently Braemar Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The phrase draws on the comforting words Creed was offered by a friend: ‘No one can really tell you everything is going to be alright, but despite that, many times in my life I have been very comforted by people saying something like that to me.’ The resulting work has never resonated so poignantly as in the current situation of 2020.
