Braintree District Council Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment December 2010 www.braintree.gov.uk Braintree District Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment November 2010 Contents 1. Introduction 2. Summary Schedule of Core Strategy Identified Supply 3. Schedules of Large Sites (Capacity 10 or more dwellings) • 3a Schedule of Braintree and Bocking Sites (Includes Cressing, Great Notley, Black Notley, Great Saling and Rayne) • 3b Schedule of Halstead Sites (Includes Greenstead Green, Gosfield, Liston and Pebmarsh) • 3c Schedule of Witham Sites in and around the periphery of Witham • 3d Schedule of Other Large Sites in and around the periphery of Key Service Villages • 3e Schedule of Growth Locations Appendix 1 SHLAA Consultees 1. Introduction Purpose 1.1 This is the first Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) for Braintree District. This assessment, which is a requirement set out in the Government’s Planning Policy Statement 3: Housing (PPS3), identifies sites that have development potential for housing over the period up to 2026. It forms part of the evidence base, which supports the Local Development Framework. 1.2 The form of this SHLAA is based on the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments Practice Guidance issued by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). 1.3 The purpose of the SHLAA is to identify sites with potential for housing, assess their housing potential and consider if and when they are likely to be developed. This will assist the Council’s decision making in respect of growth locations and housing allocations in Local Development Documents. It will help to ensure that land availability is not a constraint on the delivery of housing needed to meet the district housing requirement, set out in the East of England Plan, adopted in 2008.

Neil Payne, Programme Editor BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT RESERVES A BRIEF HISTORY Brightlingsea Regent, previously Brightlingsea United, have completed around 100 years of competitive football. Firstly in the Border League, between 1908/1909 to 1970 when they joined The Essex Senior league for 20 years having much success, before going on to join the then Jewson League in 1990 and then back to the Border League in 2001/2002.
