Memoirs of Museum Victoria 59(2): 531–540. Atopodesmus Chamberlin, 1920 is synonymised with Asphalidesmus Silvestri, 1910. Asphalidesmus leae Silvestri, 1910 and A. parvus (Chamberlin, 1920) comb. nov. are redescribed from abundant, recently collected material. The two millipede species appear to be endemic to Tasmania but have widely separated ranges. Introduction family position. Kons Minister for Primary Industries and Water 1. Short title This order may be cited as the Inland Fisheries (Seaward Limits) Order 2004 . 2. Commencement This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette. 3. Interpretation (1) In this order – Act means the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 ; grid reference means the grid reference taken from the Universal Grid Reference System used in Tasmania. (2) Where, in this order, a road is referred to by a capital letter and a numeral that reference is to the road so identified by that capital letter and numeral in the classification of roads used in Tasmania. 4. supervising scientist report 167 North-west rivers environmental review A review of Tasmanian environmental quality data to 2001 Graham Green supervising scientist This report was funded by the Natural Heritage Trust, a Commonwealth initiative to improve Australia’s environment, as part of the RiverWorks Tasmania program. RiverWorks Tasmania is a joint program managed by the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment and the Commonwealth Supervising Scientist Division to improve the environmental quality of Tasmanian estuaries. The primary objectives of RiverWorks Tasmania are: • to undertake a series of capital works projects designed to reduce or remove significant historical sources of pollution; • to invest in mechanisms that will provide for sustainable environmental improvement, beyond the completion of the capital works program; • to develop proactical and innovative mechanisms for improving environmental conditions which can be transferred to other areas of Tasmania and other Australian States; • to produce public education/information materials. The Distribution and Occurrence of Zeolites in Tasmania Steve Sorrell April, 2003 The Distribution and Occurrence of Zeolites in Tasmania 1. Introduction Zeolites are a large group of minerals exhibiting similar general characteristics and properties. Characteristics of zeolites include the potential for low-temperature dehydration, and the ability to readily absorb other molecules, resulting in zeolites being utilised in industrial activities. The International Mineralogical Association Commission on New Minerals and Mineral Names have recently published a report that redefines the nomenclature for zeolite minerals (Coombs et al, 1997). This redefinition has resulted in around 90 mineral species being included within the zeolite group, a significant increase. In some cases, it has also caused some difficulty for collectors in naming their specimens, particularly the revised approach to what are now referred to as “compositional series” (eg: chabazite series now contains chabazite-Ca, chabazite-Na, etc, based on the dominant cation). The difficulty arises from the need to chemically test specimens (XRD is insufficient), and the fact that a range of “species” may occur in the one location, perhaps even on one specimen. Limited testing of Tasmanian zeolites has been carried out. In Tasmania, some 27 species of zeolites have been recorded. This publication is aimed at beginners and serious collectors of Tasmanian zeolites and contains a comprehensive report of all known localities and the species recorded from each. Photographs have been included wherever possible to aid in the identification of specimens found by collectors. Some sites are worked out or otherwise off-limits to collectors. Where this information is known, it is included in the text.
