To evacuate from a fire:  Stay low to avoid smoke Smoke Alarms  Feel closed doors with the back of your hand for heat . Most effective defense  Get out - stay out - call 911 against home fires! . Have at least one on each level of your home If you cannot get out: . Test every 6 months  Move to room furthest from fire  Close the door, put cloth under the door to stop smoke  Hang a cloth out the window to signal for help
